We have a Honda but not the extended warranty. I really don't think changing your own air filter or even oil change would void a warranty? Is it on the power train?

I won't have H do the oil simply because it is messy. lol.
I don't know what power train means....? We bought the car new from Honda and bought the extended warranty that takes us to 7(?) years or whatever number of miles.
I just read some article that said if there was a problem with my car that needed warranty service they would have to prove that us changing the air filter (or whatever part) ourselves caused the problem. Which I am thinking has to be totally impossible given that air filters aren't major engine parts.
On our warranty it says we need to document it if we change something so keep our receipts. Oil changes are not free on mine either. I've got a jeep and it is an extended warranty. He's going to do my first oil change soon. Just call to be sure. Dh thinks it will usually void when you change something performance related.
No it does not, DH changes our oil and air filters himself. Just make sure you're using the recommended oil and keeping up with the maintenance, keep a record of the mileage when you changed it and everything.

As far as the powertrain is concerned, you should be good for at least the air filter (assuming you mean the cabin air filter) as that doesn't have any connection to the powertrain (engine, transmission, drive shafts, etc).
As far as the oil is concerned, I'd check the terms of your specific warranty. If you didn't get the extended warranty that info should be in your Owner's Manual. But I agree that it shouldn't be a problem as long as you're using the recommended grade of oil, following the guidelines laid out in your manual for timing of changes and documenting it.
