MH got home from a 48 hr shift at about 10 this morning. He got some sleep last night, but not much. I'm averaging 2 hours of restless sleep per night.
I have an appointment at my high risk doc. He said he would meet me here at 230. I got here at 250 and called him. He was still asleep. Slept right through his alarm.
If I could get my hands on him right now I would end his existence. This is an overreaction, yes?

He had a super long shift and needed sleep. I'd be mildly irritated that he slept through the alarm. And I'd have gotten over it before I could type out that I was mildly irritated.

This is why I have to withhold my reaction for at least 15 minutes right now. I cannot tell what is worthy of anger and what is no big deal. Everything is a big deal.
I can see being upset, but like Ala said, he had a long shift and his body obviously needed the sleep.
Regardless, good for you for putting it aside for a few minutes to really judge your reaction! I probably would have bit his head off and then put some thought into it...

Y'all are feeling sorry for him, but they get to sleep, and they just have to wake up for calls. He averages 5 hours of sleep on a bad night. He got plenty of sleep his first night, but I think last night he only ended up with a couple, but this is the first one. Regardless, I'm not gonna kill him, this time

I am not feeling sorry for him, just saying his need for sleep seemed legit since he slept through an alarm.
I think your lack of sleep is making you more pissed off than you would otherwise be.
This. Also, he still only got a couple of hours the night before. I see why you're upset, but I don't think this is something to be that upset about. It sucks he missed the appointment, but it's not like he was sleeping off a night with the boys...he was working a LONG shift and was exhausted. And, even if he is allowed to sleep, it's probably not a very restful sleep...being woken up and then probably not sleeping because he's anticipating a call...he gets a pass, seriously. I'd speak to him about setting up a second alarm or something as a backup for next, though.

I'm late to this but I agree with everyone else. He had a long shift and didn't get much sleep. Sleep at work while on high alert is so different from a good sleep at home also, IMO.
I think you did the right thing by delaying your reaction and *thumbs up* to the Mexican food (God, that sounds so good right now, lol)! I hope your appointment went well.
