We're choosing a dining room rug. The walls are beige and the woodwork is very dark, but we have tons of natural light. Other than that, everything in the room is going. We're planning to eventually have a reclaimed wood table with Arts and Crafts style chairs (so sort of rustic, which I'd like to pair with something more formal). These are the ones we both like so far:
Rug 1
Rug 2
Rug 3
Rug 4
Rug 5
Rug 6
Rug 7
Any of these seem especially dining room-y (or particularly bad for a dining room)? Other opinions? I will eventually have to coordinate my living room with this as well, since it's just one huge room. Basically, whatever we pick is what 1/4 of our house will be designed around, so I'm scared. I think I'm partial to #s 1 and 5, even though I generally don't like red. I think #7 is not what I'm looking for in this room, but I absolutely love it, so I included it
Since you said you like 1 and 5, of the two I like 1. Of all 7 I like 6. 4 caught my eye, but I would be afraid of stains. Wow, I'm having a hard time and it isn't my rug. Good luck narrowing it down, they are all beautiful.
With as much woodwork as you have I would think the yellow rug might clash with the red undertones in the wood. On the same note I too much red might be too much. I know you already have a similar rug that is red so I personally would avoid it for fear of have basically the same thing in two rooms.
That said I think #1 has the most flexibility for designing around because it has so many different colors. It would work with a lot of different color schemes. You could pull out a light version of that blue for the walls for example.
Too bad you're not having kids. I think #7 would look awesome in a kid's room...if it didn't cost too much that is. : )
And you must tell me where you're finding these rugs! I hope it's some place online so I can order from them.

In MY home #3 would win, hands down.
In yours, I like 1 and 2 the best, 7 is so incredibly gorgeous it would hurt to see it all covered up with a dining set! That rug deserves a foyer or living room space, for sure!
Man you guys are all over the map. Except no one votes 5, and that's where I was leaning and hoping for confirmation LOL. Now I'm further from a decision. Thanks guys (insert sarcastic tone).
Fox, I do have a dark maroon one in the BR, but I wouldn't put it in the same category with this sort of red at all. But maybe it is. They are from a dealer in CA. Probably not worth shipping to WI :/ They are really good about giving approvals and allowing us to ship back if we don't like it, but shipping is cheap for us here. If you do want the site, I can PM it (don't want someone buying a rug out from under me, haha).

I like # 1 and #2 best, but which rug to use will depend on the colors you will be using in adjoining rooms. artwork etc. You want to have some "flow" by having a touch of the main color of one room as an accent in the next.

Well never mind then I'm probably just not remembering it right. I still like #1 better of the two you like because it has a wider range of colors.
Yeah probably won't work location wise. I'm curious though what kind of cost range are these and what size are they? (You can pm me if you don't want to share.) Are they new? I'm looking for a rug this style in our bedroom. I went to the only oriental rug shop in our area and was bummed out by the prices but I don't have any other local place to compare it to.
All but #7 would be fine in a DR. I would let the SIZE be the next factor in narrowing down your selection. There is NOTHING worse than a DR rug that is too SMALL. I hate it when I pull out a chair and the legs are half off the rug! Even a giant rug can look cheap and skimpy under DR furniture.
I like 1, 2 and 6. #7 is a zoo!! I don't like it at all. Hate #3. Looks like vomit pukey green. Sorry. I would either go with 2 or 6 myself. Rug 4 isn't bad but I think it will be hard to keep the lighter color looking clean. 5 doesn't look anything special to me. I get tired of red really quick and 90% of Persian rugs are RED! I don't want what everyone has. LOL!

I like #1. I also dig #7 but it might be to much of an arts and crafts feel for you. IDK your style. But it seems from your other rug choices you like classic rugs.
