The first time I met BF's kids we had a series of activities (it's a ldr and I came for a weekend). We went strawberry picking and made jam. We went to see a play. We went mini-golfing. It was nice to have things we could do together and not have it be awkward. I like the zoo idea; that way they can show him around, since they've been so many times.
I like the zoo idea. It can be hard to hold the attention of kids that young when it's just one-on-one; the zoo gives opportunities for discussion and distractions.
How long have you two been dating?? That makes a difference in my response
We've been dating for about six months.
The plan right now is to take it really slow. Maybe one visit every 2-3 weeks for awhile. They don't understand the difference between friend and boyfriend yet, so I'm a little more comfortable than I might be if I had to explain that piece to them. Obviously we're holding off on affection and longer visits.
My fear with the zoo thing is that they can be kind of a handful at the zoo. Nothing crazy, but toddlers at the zoo... yeah.

I think six months is a good time to do this. And the zoo is good. It is someplace they know and are comfortable. And it will give your kids and bf something to interact about without it seeming forced.
