I am a contractor. I've worked for this company for 8 years. I was brought on to work on a specific client's job and I'm still here. There 2 of us now in the same job (job share), and our agency has maybe 10 other people working at this client in completely different roles.
My manager (the client) wants to give us a raise. She arranges to meet with my agency. My agency argued AGAINST giving us a raise. Because "then we'd have to give everyone one".
We did get it in the end, but my mind is blown that the people who are supposed to represent us are actively against us.
FWIW, none of the other contractors employed by the agency do what we do, don't work in the same location, and don't have the same job title.
Also, the clients can't keep a secret to save their lives which is why I know this when I shouldn't.
It makes no sense. As a contract recruiter (in the past) if the contractor got a raise then I get more commission, my agency gets more money and my contractor gets more money. Everyone (besides the client) wins. I am confused at this.
