I got bored yesterday and made that in a half an hour out of some jersey that I found for $1 a yard. I think I used maybe $1.60 in fabric. I have a few belts to go with it and it's very comfy. I just left the hem raw. I plan to make a short version next time I get bored.

I have a feeling I'll have several colors by the end of summer. It looks horrible on the hanger, but when styled it's great. I love that you can wear a real bra with it. I have 20 yards of this $1 jersey to use. I'm thinking it will be a good gift for a few people that don't live near me.
Why wouldn't she dye the fabric BEFORE she sews it? That's sewing 101 right there.
Don't the arm holes gap?
ETA: Wait, is that blog post yours?
ETA2: I see I stuck my foot in my mouth. Next time dye the fabric before you do anything with it. It will save you a lot of time, and will stop the fabric from shrinking/pulling at the seams weirdly, if the fabric is inclined to do that. /end unsolicited advice.
You are so pretty! Good job on the dress! I can't wait to move! I will start all my sewing then.. which could be in August or in September!
That's not me, but it was a random Pinterest find that I actually made. You need to make this dress. It's so easy and comfortable.
Pixie- I thought she was cray-cray for using white jersey and dying it. Who does that? Doesn't she ever watch PR and the trainwrcks when they dye crap. I had red jersey. I want to try stripes since matching them would be very easy and it would look like a high end dress.
LOL IDK why she decided it would be a good idea to dye the material when she could have just bought the damn color... but whatever she has a special maxi dress and I don't so I'm jealous.
get that sewing machine ASAP Cab! We can trade patterns and projects. I'm making a dolman sleeve, cream sheath out of a veil material that I plan to wear with a cream slip dress underneath. I made the pattern based on another dress that I like and am still finishing it. I'll post pics of the actual dress when I'm done. It has a heavily embroidered star pattern and cut lace edges on the sleeves and hem. You should see the fur jackets I made last Christmas. I lined them in bright brocade fabrics.

Where did you find the pattern? I've been looking for one everywhere! I love those dresses. I have a convertible maxi dress that I could live in. Overstock has the best sewing machine deals.
Pixie, I made a maxi skirt out of a dress that I could never stand the fit on that was several sizes too big after I lost a lot of weight. Best. Move. Ever! You could easily make this shorter. I plan to do that and possibly add some lace trim.
Ugh I need it! I've been itching to make myself some convertable dresses for myself! SUPER easy! My bridemaids all had them, but paid $75 each for them, and THEN I found the simple ass pattern for it! HA ha! Oh well.
I will check my computer in the morning for you. It's really easy. It's 4 cuts I believe. One round one with the waist cut in the middle, 2 long pieces for the wrapping, and one piece to hold it all together. I don't think I'm making sense. I will post the link lol.
Thanks! I have enough jersey to dress an entire family.

In that case... your little SISTER is looking forward to it :Y:
Oooh yay!! I wanna make one too! It looks sooo easy! My sewing machine is shoved in a closet for when I actually have time to start sewing again, haha. My skills are limited, but I've taught myself a lot too. The last thing I made was my Halloween costume from this past year, which was a cheeseburger . I fucked up the first version because the fabric I used really sucked, so the day of I had to run out, buy more fabric, and put it all back together in under four hours...I totally felt like I was on PR. H kept telling me to "make it work!"
I have a pattern for a convertible dress around here somewhere too. Lemme see if I can find it...
ETA: Here it is! I had it on my "Artsy Fartsy" board on Pinterest. I have a bunch of other sewing projects I wanna try on there too:
I suspect that's the kind of thing that looks good in a blog photo, but stupid in real life (like a lot of blog DIYs). People are going to see that the neckline and sleeves are unfinished. It's not that hard to finish those areas and make it look complete.
