So the division of the company that MH works for was bought out and the sale was finalized August 1. So as of August 4th, the new company switched insurance companies. They didn't send out new insurance cards for a month, so I was just paying the portion of prescriptions that my insurance company didn't cover. No big deal, I would just submit online when the new information gets here.
So today I went to do that. OMG! It took over half an hour before I was able to register and access the online claims section. However, once I am on there, I see that I can't actually submit for medication online, I have to mail in the form, along with my receipts. Ok then. I go to download the form, and it comes up as gibberish. It turns out I didn't have the program needed to download them properly, so I get that settled and the form downloaded. No where on the form is there a place to write down what you are claiming and there is a section that the plan administrator need to fill out (which is who? No one at MH's work seems to know!) What the hell?! So now I have to call them to see what to do now, but there is a very long wait time so I gave up, I have errands to do and will try again later. AND, while looking through all the different forms, I see that I need to have my doctor fill out a form so I can have my one medication covered. This was never an issue with the old company, but I did have to do this for my current benefits, so I get it, this med is expensive and no one wants to have to pay for them. It's just a huge pain in my ass because I looked over the form, and some of the questions the doctor needs to fill out, make it seem like I will have to actually go to the doctor and see him. It's 2 hours away, so I am hoping he can just fill it out and fax it to them without having to see me because I am not scheduled to go in until February.
At least I know when my new benefits kick in January 7, I won't have to deal with this, I can cancel my current benefits and I will save $120 month.

Sorry, that was really long. I just needed to whine about how much of a pain in the ass this all is. Now I have to go to Costco before it gets too busy, then come back and actually wait on hold for them to explain their stupid form.

Oh no, that is such an annoyance and I can understand your frustration. Insurance is the worst to deal with sometimes because they never make things easy! I really hope for your sake the Dr can do his part and fax so you don't have to waste anymore time trying to gather the info they are asking for. Ugh, extra drinks for you, latte! Grrr.
