Sell it? Have it preserved? I am toying with the idea of selling mine because I don't want it to just sit in a closet forever. It might be nice if another bride could enjoy it as well.
My parents, however, are not entirely convinced about it.
Mines hanging in my closet. I REALLY want to have something made out of it. I have all of DDs clothes and I want to make a quilt and then have my dress be the border/back of the quilt but it seems like if it needed to be washed it would be ruined. I also cannot sew. Maybe if I have a granddaughter we could make a christening gown out of it.
I had it cleaned and preserved in a pretty (giant) box. Which takes space and is annoying me. My kids were very excited when they saw it the other day though.

I got mine preserved and it's sitting in a huge ass box in my closet right now, taking up room.
Back in the day when kids were a maybe, I thought it might be nice to save it so if I had a girl, she could use some of it to wrap around her flowers or to use it to make a christening gown, etc. But now I don't want kids, so there is truly no good reason to hang onto it. Not sure what I'll do with it though. I could donate it somewhere.
I gave mine to a friend who was totally broke and loved my dress. I asked her to donate if when she was done if she didn't hang on to it. The only thing I kept is my veil and shoes.
I sold mine on Craigslist. It was a total win-win. I got back half of what I paid for it, I got it out of my house (so that it's not taking up valuable storage space, it would never have been worn again, I probably won't have kids), AND, I made someone really really happy who wanted the dress so badly but couldn't afford it brand new. Win, win, win. I have no regrets.
I was on the fence about it, especially 'cuz I thought my then-future child might want to wear it. However, my husband said if on the slim chance our kid wanted to wear it, we'd just pay to have a similar one made.

I left minding a spare room at my dads house. After 6 months I think he got tired of it and took it to be preserved and then dropped it off at my house.
My bff had her boys christening outfits made from her dress.

I did a trash the dress that didn't involve actually trashing it. Then I donated it to The Bride's Project (there is on in Toronto, and one in NYC), where the proceeds are donated to cancer research/treatment/causes...dropped it off on a Saturday, it was bought on the Sunday. Wish I got to see the bride in it.
