Go for it! I went through 2 sessions of the Crossfit Fundamentals class at a local box and I loved it. I didn't keep up my membership, but even with having a fairly athletic background I learned SO much from Crossfit and I continue to carry that with me.

Doooo it! I was terrified at first - I've played sports since high school and done some running (a half and a couple 10k's), but CF sounded like it was on a whole different level. Which it kind of is But I am also able to scale anything that I can't do as written, whether that's lighter weights or using an elastic band to help with pull-ups or even just doing a round less than everyone else when I started. If the trainers at the place you go are good, they should help you and motivate you. Ditto the other people there - my box has a great vibe with everyone being supportive and friendly, and it's been fun to get to know new people.
I only get yelled at nicely and have never puked in the past 10 months.

I haven't ever puked. I have brought myself to the point of laying on the ground, out of breath, gasping for air, but never puked. I used to get 'WOD wheeze' but once I had done it for a while that stopped. None of this is very different from how I used to feel after a good 5k run, lol.
A good box will teach you to scale properly so that you aren't lifting more than you should. They should also make sure that you know the proper form for each move. Finally, they should also have a good warm-up planned, as well as some mobility exercises.
Good luck - don't get discouraged if you find it tough. It does get easier. And then it gets harder when you realize that you need to up your weights again to make it harder, lol...that's sort of the point!
