Have fun this weekend Sorry we can't make it but glad I didn't sign up because Poe sliced her pad open a few weeks ago on glass and still on modified crate rest

Thank you! We'll see how it goes! We thought we had put together a team Patches would be able to run on that would run around 22 or 23 or so, but the fastest dog messed up one of her dew claws the other day so who knows.
Poor Poe! I can't imagine Poe likes being on crate rest very much. I hope she's up and back to her old self soon!

Aw, that sucks. I'm sure he'll have a good time
Yeah, she hasn't been a happy camper. But she's been letting me treat it, rinse it, wrap it. She's been allowed to chill out inside but I'm hoping to run her a bit this weekend. The cut is healed but there is now a crease in the pad with a little chunk missing I'm sure the crease is sealed but I'm worried about it not being completely flat or that it might get dirt trapped in there somehow. It was a pretty gnarly cut. Between the house, the insurance mess, all of my cars breaking down (at the same freaking time) and other crap I'll just add this to the list of crap that's gone wrong these past 10 months I guess *sigh*. She was supposed to be at a tournament in Gettysburg (and get her FMCh-15,000) at the end of July but I was afraid of pushing her too hard or her being out of shape after so much rest so I pulled her before the closing date. I'll go after that title this fall I guess. I needed a break and so did she. She didn't seem to be having much fun at the last tournament.

Poor girl, I hope the break does her some good. And that sucks for you guys - is the house almost done yet?
Patches had a terrible weekend. I think we've spent all our practice time since his last tournament in March trying to make him run faster, so I've been chasing him down the lane most of the time. When he got his ball this weekend and turned around to run back and saw I wasn't anywhere near him, he freaked. It also could have been that the tournament was just too noisy for my shy little doggie with two races going on at once, but whichever, he got a whopping 5 points. Sigh.

Aw, poor guy I can see where that environment is very chaotic. I've never been to the 'nut but it sounds like a big noisy event. In practice can you have someone else be the runner so he gets used to seeing you in the back again? And maybe do a bunch of restrained recalls from the box for speed so he's seeing you the whole time and driving to come back to you. Does he tend to recall a bit faster than going out? Also, maybe try releasing him about one or two jumps back from the box and start running as he comes off the box so he's chasing you. Picture (you running away) is the same, you're just a bit further away. Poe's been kind of slack on her box turn and recall so a friend suggested it and she did pick up some speed in practice.
I think a break will do her good. She went with us to a disc event this weekend and loved visiting. A vet tech friend of mine checked her foot a bit and said she thought she was good to go so I let her play in the backyard yesterday She was a happy pupper, pretending to play disc and then got the zoomies with her favorite toy lol. Checked the foot and the crater was almost completely filled and the crease is almost gone. Seems like being active on it is helping. We have a disc tournament in 3 wks and there is a dock diving competition happening there at the same time so I'm hoping she's 100% to try that out as well.
House is getting there. We are living in our basement while they finish up the bedroom and kitchen. So for about 3 months the 4 of us have lived in a small windowless room with nothing more than a grill and microwave for cooking. Dogs are loving having us together 24/7 but I'm reading to move upstairs. The stress level is pretty high but I'm hoping to have the kitchen done in a few weeks.

Well you see, Patches is a very shy little guy. He freaks if someone else chases him. I think it would work if DH chased him with someone else on the box though. Sometimes he won't get his ball if it isn't DH on the box. We do let him go from behind 2 jumps then run when warming up, I'll have to make it more a part of practice I think. All the chasing has really helped him pick up some speed - he's almost where I think he should be running, now we just have to actually get the ball back over the line.
I'm also looking to get him into agility classes again so he gets used to working away from me.
Good for Poe that she got some play time. Has she ever done dock diving before? That sounds like fun.
I can't imagine living in the basement. I would probably be ready to kill my DH. I hope you guys have it all finished soon.

Aw, he just wants it to be a family sport Sounds like he's making progress! Do you do SDR on friday nights before a tournament? If not, maybe that would help him be more comfortable in the setting before it gets super loud and help him orient where you will be on the lane? I ran SDR with poe the whole first year I think because she would get so excited on race day and I wanted to work her alone.
I think he would have fun with agility
Yup, Poeser got to play last night with no restrictions. Even played disc for a long time and her foot is perfectly fine. woohoo! No, she's never done dock diving before but she loves to swim. The pool is avaiable for training so we might try her out. They have a training dock which is lower and then a regulation dock. She loves to swim so hopefully she'll at least try once she gets comfy. She loves to jump over the waves at the beach when we throw her ball so I think she's a bit of a jumper but she tends to run, stop, then jump lol.
Yeah, it is tough. And my Dh is out of school for summer (he's a teacher) so he tends to stay up later and we don't have anywhere for him to go after I go to bed Oh well. Hopefully it won't take too long. It hasn't been too miserable, just stressful.
