Does anyone here shop at thrift stores? What was the best deal you've ever found?
A couple of my favorite pairs of jeans were from the thrift shop, and I also found a BCBG wool sweater for about $12 once. My favorite thing to do is buy over-sized blouses and tailor them to fit. I usually have a hard time finding blouses that fit properly but don't like to alter brand new, expensive ones in case I mess it up.
It's so much fun to sift through all the junk and find that one, almost new item that fits perfectly

We paid $40 at Goodwill for a chair from Target that was brand new and still in the box. We then went to Target and paid more for the matching ottoman. We still have both 7 years later! The chair is starting to look a little shabby but we're reluctant to part with it because it was such a good deal. Plus, it was our first joint furniture purchase so it has sentimental value.
ETA: That's awesome that you can alter your thrift store finds yourself! Tailors can get so expensive.

I've gotten so many ridiculous deals at thrift stores. I do the majority of my shopping at them.
Last week I got a barely-worn (if ever worn) pair of PERFECT fitting Joe's Jeans for 5 bucks. Last winter I got a practically new North Face puffy jacket for 7 dollars. I've gotten countless vintage kitchen items for 2-10 dollars, a lot of which sells on Etsy/Collector sites for a good deal more.
I love love love thrift stores. I wish I could make it my job to shop them daily and resell the goodies I find.

I collect a winter line of "china" from Target called first frost. Our local Targets never have all the pieces. I was in our local Good Will and noticed that there were two packs of unopened first frost bowls. I paid a grand total of $5 for both sets (they're something like $15/20 a set). I've never seen them in stores and first frost is not carried online.
I love thrifting. My best deal money-wise was a brand new pair of merrell trail shoes. They were $15 - I googled them and online they were a current style selling for $110. woot!

I got pretty much my entire current work wardrobe at one amazing garage sale. I got a velvet Juicy blazer for $2 a White house Black Market skirt for $1, a Banana sweater with the $85 tag still on for $2, several pairs of Banana slacks for $2 each, several Ann Taylor blazers for $2 each. The girl selling it all was pregnant and going to SAH after the baby so she was selling off all her work clothes, and she was exactly my size. It was awesome.

I love thrifting. There is a thrift store here that is all household goods. I love it!
I recently got DD a new pair of shoes, tags still on selling at Nordstrom rack clearances out for $25 for $5. She is ridiculous about shoes and she only wears these;)

My phone is acting fucky!
She will let us in after hours and lets us know which color tag is next up to be donated ( if they don't sell and the original owner doesn't want to pick them up she donates) and lets is have those for free;). I love this and have an accent mirror in the bathroom that was part of his deal;)

I love thrift shopping.
I rarely find super nice, expensive stuff but this weekend I went to Goodwill Outlet and got three tshirts, two nice work shirts, 2 antique picture frames, a wall mirror, and a nice serving tray for a grand total of $7.46.
The one that sticks out in my mind right now is the one time I got $500 worth of curtains for like $20. I do the majority of my shopping at thrift stores now and often find great bargains. It just takes a lot of digging, and I know some people don't enjoy that, but I really do.
I got my international chair for $50. People keep telling me I should try to sell it in the city for a lot more, but I like it too much. And to think, I could have had a pair, but I only needed one, so I split them up. Stupid!
I got DD2's changing table for $10. I am constantly finding baby stuff for like 1/10th the retail price. My part of NJ is really good for thrifting - lots of wealthy people who like to buy stuff, then barely use it.

i found some leather sandals recently that were new and they looked like they were really well made. They fit so I bought them and then googled the maker...they are $200 custom made sandals from some dude in Hawaii. I had no idea you could even do such a thing. I love thrifting, i buy most of my clothes from thrift stores.

The day before my uncle's funeral, we realized H didn't have a suit to wear. We stopped at the local thrift store really quick just to see if they had something there.
We ended up picking up a new, with tags, suit for $7. It fit perfect. We would have paid $250 if we bought it new.
My dresser is from a thrift store. Heavy, real wood, great condition (missing a handle, but we ended up replacing all the handles) and only paid $40 for it.
I got a fabulous Nicole Miller dress for $20 at a consignment shop.
The top I'm wearing today was from Goodwill's $1 bin.
I got a twin quilted bed spread and pillow sham for the guest room at Goodwill for $5.
Recently got a really comfy cardigan/sweat jacket that I'll be awing when it's cold enough for $10 at a consignment shop
My bff used to be a manager at Goodwill and it was crazy the kind of things she had donated. She had a guy drop off his wife's "butt ugly" original Picasso lithograph. She just about died when she saw it.

I have some sewing experience but myself through trial and error using a cheap blouse!

I go to a local consignment store for clothes. A friend that works at her moms store sends her clothes there after wearing them once. I then go buy them for a fracture of the price. I think she would be mad if she caught on. I'm mad her feet are smaller than mine and I couldn't buy the brand new fur lined Hunter boots yesterday.
