I know this is obvious, but, let's be honest...a lot of us have probably driven when we shouldn't.
I'm about to go to a wake of a former colleague of mine at my old firm...he was killed Saturday night when his car (he was the passenger, and had his friend drive) swerved off the road and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His friend, the driver, is now being held on 750k bond for DUI/aggravated death.
Guys, he was only 48, had two young kids, and was an amazing, amazing man. I did a lot of work with/for him when I first started clerking and then working at this firm, and even after I left, he kept in touch and wished me well. We worked together for 7 years. I am just heartbroken for his wife and kids.
I just can't wrap my head around this and I can't imagine what his wife is going through.

Thanks guys. I waited in line for OVER An HOUR at the funeral home to see him and speak with his wife and kids. It was amazing. I have never seen so many people at a visitation.
It was so heartbreaking. His son was wearing my friend's favorite hat, and they had made cards for him that were on the casket.
DH's 14 year old nephew was killed by a drunk driver a few months before our wedding. You'd think that'd be enough for my IL's to stop doing it themselves, but no.
DH lost a really good friend to drinking while driving. His friend and his friend's twin brother were out partying and both were drunk. The one who felt "less" drunk ended up driving home and crashed, killing his brother.
My mom was hit by a drunk driver when I was in high school me suffered a major head injury. She was in the hospital for a month and spent two months in rehab learning how to walk, talk and ll of the every day stuff that we take for granted.
Dh and I either take a cab or decide ahead of time who will drive.
My SIL, on the other hand, drives drunk on a regular basis and it pisses me off. I refuse to get in the car with her....ever.
