The countdown has officially begun. I'm running my first 50K in less than 48 hours. I actually had the minutes figured out this morning.
I'm really excited about it. And not that nervous at all! Far more excited/less nervous than I was for either of my marathons. I'm pumped to see everyone on Saturday morning and then through out the day. I'm excited to finish then hang around while the longer races finish. I'm so ready for this!
Although, I do have two concerns - keeping my post-race stomach happy and reigning it in enough, but not too much, for the first 20 miles. I need to keep my pace in check and I found out last weekend during a half/"training run" I really struggle with that...
I also need to say I am super impressed with the race directors - the park the race is held at is still super flooded (lake is 7x normal capacity) from all the CO floods. The original start/finish is currently 40ft under water with about 50% of the course flooded but in the last two weeks they completely re-routed the race, kept in in the park and only had to had 10% more pavement. These guys earned every penny I paid for my entry!

Wow 50k... Is it mostly on trails? Better to have tummy issues AFTER the race than DURING, right?! Do you have anyone running with you to help you pace?

Its 85% trails - was more before the flooding, but I'm just glad they pulled off 85% trails, NOT pavement!
No pacers for the 50k, I'll be on my own. I really want to hang out after the race so feeling like crap the second I cross the finish line will put a huge damper on my day! Sucking down water as we speak...
