My "favorite" game to play with these is [thing that happened a long time ago] is as old today as [really old thing] was when [thing that happened a long time ago] happened.
For example Star Wars is as old today as Casablanca was when Star Wars came out. (okay Casablanca is 2 years too old, but I can't find a movie from 1944 or 1945 that people would recognize) Or Nevermind is as old today as Abbey Road was when Nevermind came out.
Yeah, hearing Nirvana on classic rock stations makes me feel old. Or singing along to a song you really like and saying, "I used to love this song!" And then doing the math and realizing it's almost 20 years old.
For me, it was hearing "Blaze of Glory" by Jon Bon Jovi on the classic rock station. It came out in 1990! That was like 10 years ago! Oh wait, more like 23. Dammit!
It's totally the oldies stations that kill me. Do not play songs from my childhood and tell me they are classic because I will hurt you. Hell, yesterday the pop station's throwback song was Crazy by Britney Spears. The fuck?
I almost fell over when they said on TV about this being the 30th anniversary of Cabbage Patch dolls. I can remember wanting one so badly when I was a child. It doesn't seem like 30 years has passed!!

This game does not really make me feel better, but I'll play. I think Lallapalooza is now older than Woodstock was when I first went to a Lallapalooza concert.
I am feeling older than my age because: 1) a friend invited me to her first 31 party. NO NO NO. 2) at least two people I went to college with have gotten pregnant. On purpose.

I'm turning 45 which is officially middle aged. You little 30-somethings are YOUNG (plus 30s were my favourite years so I'm jealous). I felt old. And then I watched a British tv programme about a bunch of 80-90 year old ladies who were rocking their lives and then I decided that age is all about how you think about it. HOnestly, I don't feel old in any way (my body might feel it) so I'm not old. Rock your 30s and don't feel old!

The worst one for me was watching a documentory about the Soviet Union and they had a clip of the soldiers in Red Square marching and it looked like old time war footage.
I had an appointment for an annual exam with our eye doctor this week. I was so happy that my RX had not changed, but the doc asked me if I was having any moments when reading was becoming more difficult. I replied that I thought my iPhone was my worst enemy. He smiled, and said "Well no....." I said, "Great, I am just getting old." He was kind enough to say I was maturing like fine wine
tacom claiming she feels old makes me feel old. I have HS/college friends with kids having children after college. On purpose.
I said older than my age - not old. Neither of those things seem like 23-year-old activities to me.
Why? Because you think 23-year-olds shouldn't be friends with people ~a decade older? Because you think it isn't normal for people to get married and/or have kids right after college?
What age do these make you feel like then? Because both sound like standard early-mid 20s activities to me.

i get the sense that you are being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative.
Do you even know what a 31 party is? This has nothing to do with having older friends.

I'm not trying to be argumentative. Honestly. And apparently I'm out-of-the-loop (as per usual, I will admit)--"first 31 party" to me means a birthday party celebrating the first anniversary of their 31st b-day. No idea what you meant if that wasn't it. (I have a friend that is on her 16th 31st b-day this year).
See, I'm so old, I'm out of touch with your whipper snapper slang
And honestly, I'm feeling old because I will be meeting some of the grandkids of my HS/college friends this weekend so your second comment jumped out at me as I was scrolling the thread. Really not trying to pick on you or start an argument.

BRAGPLAINER!
(Oh wait, I misread and thought that you meant a 31st birthday party too. But either way, I felt old the first time I went to a 30-something birthday party)
I went to a friend's 30th birthday party last week and felt super old because she was "only" turning 30, and then realized this may be the last 30th birthday party for me (wilted) 34 is a terrible age.
Aw v you can totally come to my 30th. It's not over! Haha
Velvetshady now I see where the miscommunication was. 31 parties are part of that whole pyramid-become-your-own-employer scheme like Mary Kay or party lights-- only they sell monogrammed fug bags that only my grandmother (bless her heart) would love. I've known two older SAHMs who did this but this was the first time I'd seen a true peer give it a shot. It honestly terrifies me. There are a lot of great things about aging. 31 parties are not great. lol.
I always feel old, but I get carded for EVERYTHING and it's a nice reminder that I'm not old.
I have to say though, the next bitch waitress who tells me to get out of the bar area is getting a face punch. At least ask for my ID before making assumptions.

hopes she doesn't like the so-called fug bags
When I was ~23, I had friends doing Pampered Chef parties--at least it was stuff that was useful for stocking a new kitchen.
Being excited about being asked if I was a student while recently buying something on a college campus. Only to realize that I must look old enough for them to question whether or not I'm a student.
I'm starting to get the "I feel old" moments more and more. At work we've been talking about our favorite toys and TV shows when we were kids.
It's happening more often now that we're fostering the twins. Last night I had to meet some parents picking up Twin1. It felt weird. I'm only 12 1/2 years older than the twins.

I definitely do that too.
One of my favorites, Back to the Future related, is that it's about the same time difference with us looking back to 1985 as it was for Marty in 1985 to look back to 1955.
I've been to quite a few "dirty thirty" birthday parties and I'm still years away from 30.
I also know what a 31 party is. Mostly because UT is full of pyramid schemes so someone is always involved in something.
But... What made me feel old was a girl at work. I was singing (rapping) to a ludacris song and she didn't really know that song, I said it reminded me of Jr high and she said she was in elementary.

Thanks for that. I'm going to comfort myself by saying I was too young to really get Back To The Future when it first came out.
