If you have had this type of pizza (you could recognize it by its thin crust, use of provel "cheese", and square cut pieces - e.g. Imos, Fortels, etc.), I have two questions for you:
1. Did you like it? 2. Are you from St. Louis?
I am specifically looking for someone, anyone, who answers Yes to 1 and No to 2. I do not believe such a person exists.

I went to grad school in StL but im not from there. DH is from there so we get it everytime we go back. Over the years I have grown to tolerate it but I wouldn't say I find it enjoyable. I usually make him get me something else but I will eat a slice or two. It is def something it took several (many) tastes of to be tolerable to me but if I never had it again I wouldn't be sad.
Provel is supposed to taste like mozzarella but have the bite of provolone. All I know is it does not meet the federal government's legal definition of cheese.

1. Yes 2. No
The trick to Imo's is that you just have to get the deluxe (not plain cheese like Jon Hamm had). I love Imo's more so for the family, they were a client of mine when I lived in St. Louis.

If you have ties to the Imos family, you're not the objective, non St Louis-biased person I am seeking.

My BIL fits your criteria. He raved about STL pizza so much that we tried it when we were last there. Awful. He's from Wisconsin, so he should know better than to like that "cheese."

Haha, well, either way I do like the pizza and I'm not from St. Louis.

DH describes provel as the best cheese to ever get stuck on the roof of your mouth. It literally forms a big clump that you have to pull off with your tongue. ILs put it on salads etc. it is chewy and melts horribly. Ewwww.

I have never heard of Provel, but that description is terrifying. That pizza looks normal on my computer, but after reading the blog about it, I find myself a little scared.

Hmm, I've had pizza like this before, but didn't realize it was an actual "style". I though we just went to a really crappy place that used melted kraft singles as "cheese".
1. It is awful 2. Not from St. Louis (originally) but we lived in St. Louis for a few years. That being said, provel is the most disgusting creation ever known to man.
On a side note, I have to disagree with Jon Hamm because 11 world series championships tastes waaaay better than St. Louis style pizza

1. Yes 2. Yes
BUT... My DH is a:
1.Yes 2.NO.
I always tell him he was meant to be a st. louisan. We've had the pizzas and the bags of cheese (to make awesome salad w/ IMO's dressing) shipped to us, his idea!

Provel cheese is okay, better than American.
I am not a fan of STL style pizza, but I moved here when I was a kid. I don't think that makes me a true St. Louis native. My husband likes the thin crust pizza though and he was born here.
I do think if you are going to have St. Louis style pizza Stefanina's is much better than Imos.

Yes to 1 and No to 2.
DH is from St. Louis and LOVES Imo's. His mother ships it to him for his birthday every year.
I like it, because frankly I've never met a bread / cheese combo that I didn't like. It's really that simple for me.
