What are some things you might like to get in a care package? Typically I'm making up packages for my H and other male friends, but one of my very good female friends is leaving shortly for a deployment and I'd like to send her some packages, especially since her spouse is also deployed right now (with my H, actually), so he's not around to send her stuff. I know some items are sort of universal, but if there's anything that's particularly nice or appreciated from a female perspective on deployment, I'd love some ideas.
If she's in a more built-up base, then I would recommend girly stuff -- nice trial sized lotions, face scrubs, conditioner, lip balm....stuff that smells nice but isn't too strong.
Someone sent me a Bucky eye mask once and it is the bomb, especially of sleeping in crowded transit tents or on transport aircraft.
Healthy individually wrapped snacks like granola bars, dried fruit, pretzels. Chocolate is awesome but it can melt in the mail. Baked goods are always awesome (again, individually wrapped is better as it's easier for sharing and helps with pest control issues).
Another idea is to send dryer sheets! (Make sure you wrap them tight and do not put anything else edible in the package, or it will all taste like "fresh meadow" or "linen breeze") Not only do they help keep bugs away, but they can make her locker, boots, clothes, sheets, etc.... smell less like sweat and sand and more like home.
Good laundry detergent and fabric softeners, non-aerosol air fresheners, sun screen, fun snacks, magazines, nice sheets, a nice towel, at home spa items, an eye mask, a loofah on a stick.
