I just hosted a brunch at my house last weekend. I wore a stripy fall tone dress. I just wanted to be comfortable but look put together. Dresses are my answer to that.
Leggings, a tunic sweater, and boots if the weather's right for it. (My phone changed weather to wearer, which also seems appropriate.) Make sure the tunic covers your butt!
If I'm being honest, it's usually a T, jeans, and flip flops. But if I want to look nice a more tailored maxi dress with a cardigan probably. Or dressed-up jeans.
Casual cool, but it depends on the location. I find that day before the wedding tends to be fancy and day after is generally on the casual side. I would do my nice jeans and a cute top. Boots for October.
(There is a good chance someone will show up in pjs.)
Cardigans and sweater dresses are not staples in my wardrobe. I'm too busty/hippy for those. I'll probably veer towards the casual side since we plan to hit up a winery or two afterwards. I'll be on the lookout for a nice sweater or top when I'm at the mall this weekend for Return-a-Thon 2013.
