I picked up my bib at 6pm. At 7:30pm an email went out postponing all Saturday races until Sunday due to rain.
The race is in a state park and today's rain muddied up the trails too much. The park rangers/people have strict rules on trail use so the trails are getting shut down. Thankfully it was all weekend event with a half/10K on Sunday. Now we are all running on Sunday. Makes it a bit of a cluster but I'm glad they are still letting us race!
Should be sunny tomorrow so with any luck the trails will be good to go Sunday!
And what am I doing with my Saturday? Well, not anything remotely responsible. A group of friends are going on a company sponsored hiking trip. I was initially invited but had the race. Now I don't have the race, so I'm hiking a few mountains instead. Sounds like a good warm up for a 50K, right?
I may be setting myself up for a very painful race, but I'm kind of excited to see what my legs can pull off...
Hope it all works out tomorrow! I am wondering why you're not resting your legs today though... ?
Because that would make sense...
I had a great day in the mtns, feel pretty good (just tired) and think it might actually play out to my benefit because now I'm basically required to go out conservatively which I doubt I had the self control for on well rested legs!
Yea...that doesn't exactly make sense to me either!
