H and I both enjoyed it and laughed all the way through. There were a few moments that might make you pause and think, but I wouldn't call it depressing.

If you're a starry eyed newlywed it's probably somewhat depressing. If you are already juggling kids and a little frazzled, then I think it is hilarious. It definitely resonated with DH and I and we laughed until we cried.
Yes, H and I could relate to parts, so we found it funny. SIL and her FI thought it was depressing (they have no kids, never married, etc.).
I just started watching because if this thread. The wife (both character and actress) is absolutely insufferable. I want to kick her teeth down her whiny throat.
