I've just started the couch25k program and I'm having issues with things.... rubbing together. Particularly in the behind region and also a little bit in the lovehandle region as well. Is there anything I can do to prevent further chafing? Is this what compression pants are for?
I am not particularly heavy but I definitely get chafing between the thighs and under the bra line. For my thighs I wear longer shorts or pants. And I use body glide for every run.
Yes and yes. Compression pants will help. Also, you can buy something like body glide to reduce chafing. Applying regular deodorant to the area before running will also help if you don't have an anti-chafing gel.
Yes, compression shorts/pants should help with this.
If possible, have a layer of snug fitting fabric (like longer compression shorts) covering any area that chafes. If not possible, cover that area with something like body glide and try your best to not have any kind of edge or seam right in that area.

Great job starting Couch25k!
Thanks!
Can I pick up Body Glide at Academy? Do you think they carry plus size compression pants?

I don't know what Academy is! But I feel like compression capris will be available most places. I have always bought body glide at a running store or online. Really, plain stick deodorant applied to the area will work in a pinch.
I have two sticks of Body Glide and it has saved me many times!
How do you like the C25K? I started using that program a while back and it was wonderful for me. Finished my first half marathon last spring.
Wow congrats! I really like it so far. Granted I'm only on day 3. But still. Lol.
My mom used a really cool app on her phone when she did the C25K. It would interrupt her music and tell her to run or walk and then start her music back up for her. She said it made such a difference for her because she didn't have to keep checking a clock.
Good luck to you! And congratulations on starting!
I have enormous boobs, so I wear my regular underwire, a sports bra over that, and then a second sports bra because I have yet to find a sports bra that covers my whole rack.
I don't run long distances (yet, hopefully), but I've done C25K and a few 5Ks and haven't had the thigh chafing issue. Not because I don't have large thighs, but I've always worn compression capris or Nike 2-in-1 shorts. The shorts have a longer (5", I think) compression short under a shorter mesh short. I heard they were discontinued by Nike, but I've seen similar at Academy and you may find some of the Nikes for cheap on 6pm. My fave capris are from Old Navy. As for bras, I'm cheap and buy the Champion brand at Target. I get a size down than what I should. For example, I'm a 36D, and buy a medium. It's tight, but that's what you want for running.
