At our old apartment. And I'm not even sorry about it.
We moved to our house and I've almost unpacked the whole house. You know what he unpacked? The stuff for our night stands and put his clothes in his dresser. I typically end up doing most of the cleaning when we move. While he was cleaning the master bathroom, I deep cleaned the kitchen, the guest bath, vacuumed the bottom 2 floors, mopped, cleaned marks on the walls (magic eraser FTW!), cleaned the blinds, and cleaned the windows. I asked him to clean the half bath and vacuum upstairs. I cleaned the half bath like a week before we moved so it was still mostly cleaned.
He bitched when I finished my stuff before him and sat and waited (after loading a lot of the crap left over into our cars). He told me to go home if I wasn't going to help. So I did!
Oh, and the master bath is the same size as the guest bath FTR. It was dirtier only because he never cleaned it after the 100 of times I asked him to.

Now that we have 3000 sq ft house, I've actually wondered if a cleaning person coming once a month would be worth it. If they could vacuum, dust, and mop then I'd be in heaven.
Lol! Men, in my experience, are just not good at cleaning or packing/unpacking. If you can afford it, I would definitely hire a cleaning person for once or twice a month. As part of our apartment lease we have someone coming in 3x a week. It's excessive, but my counters are never dirty for more than about 2 days. I still have to pick up, do laundry, and do the occasional in-the-moment cleaning, but it's so nice not to have to scrub toilets. When we move back to the U.S. and eventually buy a house, I'll definitely be trying to fit that into the budget.

I am so completely jealous. I'm wondering if we could get a cleaning service for a decent price since we don't really use the upstairs yet. I really just need the downstairs cleaned. I think I could definitely cut back on shopping for this.
This was a few years back, but I think my mom paid about $100 or $150 per cleaning for a one story house with 5 bedrooms and finished basement (not sure about sq footage) and she had them come 2x a month, so $200-300/month. And I had a friend in law school who before parties would pay $70 or $80 to have her apartment cleaned. I also did some cleaning for a woman one summer while I was in college. I think she paid me $25/hr. So if you live near a college and you have the supplies yourself, you could consider trying to hire someone for that sort of rate for 3 hours, that might be cheaper, not sure. I'm like you, I'd gladly cut a little money from other places to have someone clean for me.
My parents have a cleaning woman that they've used for years. She only charges like $40-$60 per visit I think. The only problem is she breaks A LOT of stuff. She's worked for them so long that they feel bad finding anyone else. I could totally swing that rate though. Hmmm....
I guess I am like your husband - I HATE cleaning. I need to find a cleaning person. The lady who cleans our office here at work does it on the side for $10/hour. I might need to try her.
What did you think of Revenge? I was a little confused as I didn't remember all of what happened last season.

Ummm yes, it's worth it! You're in houston right? It's super adorable here too!
Chuckling at the thought of Houston cleaning people being super adorable.
We just hired our apt building's housekeeping service for $75 for once a month for a studio! I'm jealous of you people and your low rates.
Anyway, totally worth it. First time was last month and I've never been so happy! It stayed pretty clean up until this last weekend and I get service again this week. Wheee!
Also- When we moved out of our 3 bedroom place, DH deployed and I ended up with the flu. I put an ad on Craigslist for $200 to finish my move out cleaning. I still helped with cleaning but at least I wasn't up all night.
