bye bye tri season! hello off (?) season where I'm not really sure what I want to do!
I took last week totally off and it actually felt like an off week, which is a miracle.
This week I'm starting a 12 week lifting program focusing on hips and glutes. I'm also cutting back on swimming and cycling while starting to increase my running base mileage.
For the first time since I started working out after Eliza was born (three years ago now) I don't have a goal race that I'm training for or working towards. I have several fun races planned but they aren't something I'm actively training towards. In the past, if I didn't have a race to train for, I just stopped working out. For the past ten years, it's been find a race, train, find another race, train, or, not find a race and resort to my former slothful habits. So this feels really weird but it's a big step forward in my "this is a lifestyle not a quick fix" thought process.
