I was such a smug asshole when my baby was 3-4mo. I remember reading an ML thread at the time about moms' darkest moments (losing our tempers and etc) and thinking to myself, "How can people feel this way about their BABIES?! It's so nice for me, I never have to control my temper with DS."
I'm going to join a gym for the child minding just so I can GET THESE KIDS OFF MY ASS. Now that's desperation.
Oh, I totally do this, too. Two hours a day, mothafuckas! And he really loves it and I get one hour of working out and one hour of sitting on my ass GBCN'ing. lol
I can't hate on a mom for "getting her life back." Maybe the wording was off but I understand the sentiment.

I do the same, now that Finley is back to school, she asked why we don't go to the gym anymore...oops!
I pick him up from school at 11:45, then head to they gym, lol. I guess that's my flameful. But with all of his other activities, we don't stay the two hours, we just don't have that much time in the day.
It was the way it was worded that was off putting to me. Anyway all moms should have other interests and hobbies because you're a better mom when you take care of yourself too but like I said it was the wording that got me.
But some moms don't get a lot of breaks OR have time for hobbies. Some moms don't love their jobs.
Some moms are working moms of two and the only time they get to have a cup of coffee on the way to work in their car in compete silence after daycare drop off and they freaking look forward to that moment every day. (Hint, that's me)
It doesn't mean they don't look forward to their evenings with their kids. It means they are going to enjoy that break that school/daycare gives them.
My dh works 70 hours a week. I don't even get time alone to do laundry alone. Also, look at my cute baby. I wish I could do laundry without her. But I still lover her. Lol.
Party of 2! I want to pump loud music and sing really loud in my car. The distance from daycare to my office is one song length. I get one song in the morning and one song in the afternoon.
DH is working and in school so I only have one kid but its hard. When SDs are here and I'm running them all over the place and taking DS too and from daycare to the tune of One Direction (and SD2s vocal stylings) I wish I had my life back. I have no time for hobbies and my job makes me want to stick a hot poker in my eye.
I love DS more than anything. It would just be really nice to finish a book sometime in the next five years. *note that DS loves ripping paper and has destroyed three books in the last few months.
I feel so uncomfortable/awkward in my body we haven't had sex in a few weeks (don't worry DH gets plenty of other "attention"). But I have taken care of myself a few times w/o telling DH and feel a little guilty about that.
This has been me since about 20 weeks except DH is getting no other attention because fuck that noise. He has never been so thrilled to have a disgustingly pregnant woman beg him to help induce labor.

I just joined the gym 2 weeks ago... I work out for an hour and take a lonnngggg luxurious shower after. Sometimes I even blow dry my hair! Lol. $30/month well spent. I'd probably pay $100. Stupid gym. Ha
Make sure you do some high fives for not having to feed or change anyone, or answer any unnecessary questions.
I'm essentially a single mom of 3 right now, and my sister has two diabetic children. There will be high fives abound! (Oh, and we get to see lovedan too!)

I tell every new mom to join the Y, 2 hours child care a day = a real shower and time to yourself. Seriously you could just sit in the cafe there. This morning I actually tried to figure out where in the building I could nap. (I didn't come up with anything so we stayed home). MrJJ had a weekend away and we haven't been sleeping nighttime or naps. I'm exhausted.

I used to see a mom in the lounge area of the women's locker room with a pillow and a blanket and she'd nap for two hours every day. She has three kids. Rock on!

sounds like I need to upgrade my membership to the fancy change room, not the commoners one.
I AM EYEROLLING ALL OF YOU. Why are you letting gym childcare workers raise your children?
Well, the mom of 3 really did need the nap. I haven't seen her in awhile. I bet her kids started school and she got back to her life! lol
Me, I have no excuse.
Trust, if I belonged to a posh gym with a lounge, a nap would inevitably happen. When my baby is old enough to start driving me crazy like the other two do, I may create my own lounge. (Behind the stairclimbers maybe? No one uses those anymore, right?)
Thanks for commiserating @tamb. It's nice to know I'm not crazy
Nama, lay on your side with your husband behind you, if you feel weird with the belly let him play with your boobs...he's happy, you're happy, and you don't have to move the belly around. Win-win.

MrJJ seriously wants to put our child in modelling. He said, (this is a direct quote) "who are we to deny the world the pleasure of seeing him?". He's such a newbie parent I want to gag. To him our kid is the smartest, cutest, most agile & strong baby EVER. I mean, he is pretty fantastic. But really? No, we're not doing that.

Eb - do you go to a chain? I've been looking at LA Fitness and the Community Center here because they both have drop-in daycare. Not sure which to go with though.

I do Lifetime Fitness. I chose it based on the childcare centers. It's really fun for him. They have a park outside if the weather is nice, basketball courts, computer lab, a huge indoor maze and yoga and zumba classes. He stays very busy.
I've also heard good things about 24 Hour Fitness, Lifetime just worked well because it's right across the street from his preschool and our grocery stores. I don't think there's even a 24 Hour Fitness around us.

Not at all related to the current conversation, but I just lost fantasy football by .2 points. You couldn't get two more yards, Jimmy Graham?! This is flameful because of how annoyed I am.
