Hey girls! I'm definitely tagging sadlebred b/c well, we are migraine twins but if others have input please, do share.
On Saturday evening I had a migraine that was basically aura only--no pain. Woke up Sunday morning, with "brain sprain." Not too bad, but just that kind of annoying post migraine headache.
Ran in a trail half marathon, which was a grinder..2 hours running...
I still am having trouble with brain sprain today. When I say brain sprain I mean, if I shake my head or bend over to pick something up...my head hurts.
Today, my head is hurting...pretty much dull ache any time I'm moving around If I sit and rest, it's fine.
I took some excedrine this evening, but I'm trying to not over do it in fear of rebound!
I've been hydrating all day yesterday...today not as much (oops)
Any thoughts? I'm also worried I'm still having a migraine, just functioning through it!
I wouldn't worry. It takes me a few days to feel 100% normal after a migraine. I had one Wednesday and just started to feel normal today. Just keep drinking water, rest, and try to avoid your triggers.
Have you ever had an ocular migraine? Look that up. You can get a lot of the migraine symptoms (for me this is difficulty speaking, poor balance, aura) but little to no pain. I think it should respond to your normal medication.

You could still have a migraine. You know they can last for days. It might be a "low level" migraine. I can function with one for days. I don't feel quite right, but the head pain is not usually present. I will be tired, feel out of it, low energy, maybe sensitive to sounds & fragrances, etc.
How many Relpax did you take? If you took more than 4-5 over 2 days you could also have a rebound headache. If not, it's probably not a rebound headache.
I'd try to avoid caffeine, get some extra sleep tonight, and see how you feel in the morning. If you still don't feel well, give your neuro a call tmoorrow. He may need to prescribe a steroid to break the multi-day cycle.

I have never had an ocular migraine that I know of. I just googled it, and am pretty sure this isn't one, but good info to have. Thank you .
I have classic or migraines with aura that include vision problems, difficulty speaking (slurred speech), tingling and weak limbs, balance problems, vomiting etc. Everything I had on Saturday was really normal for me...nothing out of the norm..just a pain in my head..and my ass lol.
sadlebred I am definitely aware that I can have a migraine, take an abortive and it not totally kill the migraine, and then I'll still be functioning--"okay."
I don't really recall one lasting more than TWO days for me. That is really rare. I'm right at 48 hours now, and I think that's what's kind of freaking me out...like "Why is this lasting so long!?"
I only took one relpax, on Saturday evening.
I think my actual question was--and you all helped answer it was: "Is this still a migraine happening? or something else?"
Seems like it might still be migraine--which is weird and a little alarming but probably not TOO unexpected given I got the headache, slept, then got up and raced in a hard race right away.... I think it will be okay.
It is likely still a migraine. The reason I had to just stop with abortive is that they were really not working for me. I would take one, and the migraine would kind of subside for a while, but then flare right back up as soon as it wore off.
I now take a narcotic-based med called Fiorocet. It is THE SHIT. It works so well for me. I have to take maybe 10 pills a month at most (a bad day might require 3-4, because it is an every 4 hour drug) and I usually have 3-4 rough days a month, so my doctor has no problem with me taking it.
This happened to me the other week. My doctor agreed that it was a migraine, gave me a shot and steroids. It seemed to help but in the end for me, I needed to change my preventative. Not sure how much that helps but really just wanted to say 'hope you're feeling better'!

Thank you
I'm doing better today. I've been on the same preventative for YEARS without something like this happening!
Today was better, still some residual headache, plus I'm..kinda grumpy which I don't really like...it's just been weird. I actually took the day off of work today...so odd.
