I'm really tired of the parties holding the government and the country hostage when they don't get their way. You know what I do when my kid throws a tantrum? I ignore it or if it's really out of control I put her in a time out. Which is it going to be?
Had a decent phone call with a nanny prospect last night. We'll meet her in person on Wednesday. Have another call tonight with someone who will hopefully blow me away. Her application email impressed me. But we know how good interviewers/applicants can turn out not-so-fantastic.
I'm trying to decrease my stress level in the evenings. When I get home, I change my clothes, bring PF into the kitchen with me and while I wash my tupperware from lunch and re-pack my lunch for the next day she plays happily (See pic below). During this time, I also prep dinner and do anything else that needs to be done. When dinner is done I use the acronym OHIO - only handle it once - and don't leave dishes or pots in the sink with the whole "I'll do it later" excuse. I do it then and there. And then I don't wake up to a mess on the stove or in the sink. It's only day 3 but so far I'm liking this!
I love the PF picture. She really is ridiculously cute. And I really hope one of these nanny interviews pans out soon. I don't know how you deal with the smoke smell in your place, that would drive me nuts. And like I said in another thread, I think I'm going to try that OHIO acronym.
Dixie I like the OHIO, I think I'll give it a try. I do the best to clean up as a I go, but the last pots and such usually hang out until the morning.
I am over today already. It's a crisp fall day and I would rather be in the park reading and soaking the weather in. Why is it only Tuesday.
H has a second interview today (9-2) with another place. He's been bouncing back between two. I hope the first one lets him know something. I'm tired of being anxious and I know he's sick of our house and job hunting.

The little stinker got into my baking supplies last night - see the colored chocolate? She also managed to open a zip-lock bag with my baking chocolate in it. I could't even mad at her because I was too excited that she did it.

Good luck to your husband, neon! Hope he hears something soon.

Mine likes to get into the sprinkles.
Those are currently too high for her to get to. I can't get to them without a step stool
I *am* going to make her shakers with old pill bottles and different things in them like rice, beans, buttons.
I now don't have to die because I saw the PF picture! I really adore her in a largely non creepy way.
I like that acronym too but I know it will probably never work for me because I'm really lazy. I havebeen trying tto take an extra 10-15 minutes before I go to bed to clean up. Just simple stuff like wiping down counters and dusting. It has been helping a lot.
I slept extra poorly last night. River spent most of the night playing whack a mole on the bed. He was the hammer and I was the mole. Apparently it is really fun if you're a cat.
When she leaves our entire apartment smells like smoke. She claims she doesn't smoke and that it's her SO but the stink is so strong that I have a hard time believing it.
She talks over us when we're trying to instruct her on how to do things with PF - like handle her new g-tube button. When I then was talking her through working with the button she didn't do it right because she was talking over me. Anything wrong that she does with that button can seriously hurt PF.
She has to have every teeny thing spelled out. So I left a detailed schedule with the option of doing other activities than the ones I leave for them. I told her this. She came back to me last week and said, "what if I want to take her to the park or for a walk? I'm not seeing any room in the schedule for that." So I once again told her that if it's a nice day, if they've got cabin fever, if she doesn't want to do what I left, she can change it for something else. She is completely unable to take the initiative.
She's just kind of dumb. Like can't determine if the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or dirty before emptying the dishwasher or adding something into it. It's not rocket surgery!
It's just a really bad personality fit and the smoke thing is a deal breaker. We have to turn on our fan when we get home to get rid of the smell. PF smells like an ashtray.
I'm going to need to pick up that OHIO thing. I don't want a mess sullying the new kitchen once it is done. H and I are terrible dish procrastinators.
Our internet at work is sucking today. IT emailed to say we were at 100% broadband capacity and to please let him know who was doing all the downloading. Yeah, I'm sure people were fessing right up.
LOL. He was in the shower the last time I did them. He opened up the shower door all "hey what are you doi---AH!" as I pulled the wax strip. Boys just can't handle the price of being pretty.
