Besides things stated in the contract and the obvious (keys, garage door openers, etc)
A list of a few things I'm debating about (wwyd?):
-Welcome mat
-Garden hoses
-Leftover paint (I plan to leave most of it, however, the very "gender specific" pink and blues in the kids rooms are under debate since the new owners have no kids and will probably paint anyway.... and we have a pretty full gallon of a paint color I plan to use in the next house as well)
- Glass stove top cleaner (the house we are moving to has a gas stove, not sure what else I could use this cleaner for?)
- The lock to the back-gate,but if the people in the house we are buying take theirs, this could be useful to have....
What else did you/would you leave at the old house? What would you take with?

I'm leaving the curtain rods & curtains (I might ask the buyers if they want them because if they don't, I'll ask them if I can take them), the shower rod and the liner and the leftover paint. I think we'll leave the front hose because we bought a short one specifically for that area, but the longer ones that we spent good money on, we will probably take with us. We're taking our locks for our gates because they all have the same key and I only have 2 keys (plus extra locks we aren't using at the moment) so I'm not planning on leaving them.
I'll probably buy a new (inexpensive) toilet seat and a small package of TP to leave in the bathroom still wrapped up for the new owners because that's something I'll replace right away.
Our sellers took the tulip bulbs that were in bloom when we saw the house. We noticed them missing on our final walk through, but what could we do? I believe you are supposed to leave all things planted.
The garden hoses would be nice of you to leave - they can be pricey depending on how long you need them, though.
I really appreciated that our seller left us glass stove top cleaner. My husband over-boiled the water for noodles our first night in the house, and burnt water onto the glass stove top. Super helpful that our seller left us cleaner under the sink. He also left us all of the light fixtures, curtain rods/curtains, a clock in the kitchen, and the leftover paint for each room.
Not sure what you know about your buyers/how generous you're feeling, but I also remember moving into our house when I was in 7th grade. The sellers, a family of 4 (just like my family), left us a basket with a little note wishing us to make as many memories in the house as them. The knew that we were brand new to the area and didn't know anybody but our Realtor. It was super sweet, and the basket included a list of the best family places in town with a small gift card to a local restaurant their daughters liked best for us to order in on moving day. It also had a roll of paper towel and TP, some cleaning supplies, and a bottle of wine. I know that's not typical or anything, but it was so nice of them. We actually got to know our sellers later on pretty well. Just a nice gesture from them. Something a 7th grader shouldn't remember, but I do.
Ours left all manuals, one a/c, window treatments, paint, and screens for the screen door. She also made a map of all the plants and hen they bloomed and should be pruned. She sent us a flower arrangement the day after we moved in as well. We would have loved hoses or lawn mower as this was our first home.

I wouldn't leave a ton of paint. The previous owner left all her paint and not only was it not usable and we hated the colors, we then had to get rid of it. It was a PITA. I would only leave it if you know the people buying actually liked the colors you used. We ended up repainting everything and we had our paint plus leftover.
Besides the normal stuff (like manuals for appliances and receipts for certain household things), we left a storage rack by the laundry area, a shower rack in the master shower that hangs over the shower doors, and a roll of TP in each bathroom.
Our sellers left us the paint chips for most of the rooms, the miniblinds (most of them suck, but at least I didn't have to hang blankets over the windows the first night!), and some shelving units in the basement. They also left us the owners' manuals for the hot water heater and the dishwasher.
I was most excited to see the paint chips. We liked most of their color choices but had to do some touchups and paint some trim that they hadn't done.
I'm leaving a few lightbulbs, empty trash bags, and rolls of TP in the rental that we moved from.
