Sure was. Peewee, jv and varsity in high school, and one miserable semester in college. And all-star my jr year of high school (not the same as elite, basically just a private squad).
My school didn't have cheerleading but if it had I most definitely would not have been one lol. I wasn't involved in any extracurricular activities actually. I was a weirdo/loner in high school. Mostly still am too.
I was in Pom in Jr High. I wanted to do cheer in HS but my school let you only do one sport a season & I preferred volleyball & basketball over cheering. Turned out the cheerleaders at my HS (there were only a few in each grade) were dumb & not popular. Dodged a bullet
I did drill team (dance). Dd plans on trying out for school cheer this year. The majority of girls trying out are competitive cheerleaders like dd and she is only trying out because our cheer squads go to competitions as well.
I did get roped into judging cheer tryouts when I was a freshman though, I think because the member of freshman student council who was supposed to be doing it had to bail. I'm pretty sure my rankings meant absolutely nothing, because the cheer coach's daughter was in my grade and surprise surprise she and all of her friends made the team.
I was the theater, speech team, Key Club, FBLA nerd.
Yes, and it goes against everything I've ever been for. My friend was a cheerleader and they needed one more girl to join, so she convinced me to do it. I did it again the next year as well, everyone was shocked. I hate to say that I kind of miss it.
ETA: I was mainly a theatre girl (2nd grade-12th), and also played soccer and tennis. I cheered in the winter.
Ha! No. My parents wouldn't let me join anything. I was banned from band, for crying out loud. Cheerleading is a direct line to Satan, obviously. So no.
Me too! I think they just didn't want to drive me all the time for practices. It's sad bc to this day I literally have dreams that I'm trying out for high school cheerleading and then I wake up and am pissed my dream will never come true
