I have POA for my parents and have used it to sell their house for them at their request. (They are alive and well - they just didn't want to be bothered because they now live 5 hours away). The agent has shown the house, herself, roughly 15 times in 23 days. She got me a full price offer today and the house is now under contract.
She has been so easy to work with (I also live 5 hours away so all contracts are electronic, etc). She's clearly worked hard and fast.
If it makes a difference, she is a dual agent and getting 5% commission on the sell of the house. However, this is in a LCOL (south GA) so it's substantial but not like she's getting comped on a $450K house.
I'd like to give her a nice gift at closing. What should I do?
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
I'd love to give her referrals but no one I know wants to live in the hell hole where my parents lived. They were only there for 5 years so it's not like I grew up there.
She will be getting a nice commission. No gift needed.
This. And if you really want to do something, a thank you note to her broker's office is very appropriate.
Ditto. She essentially showed the house once per weekday over 3 weeks. I don't consider this above-and-beyond that would warrant a gift above the commission.
As a realtor, I don't expect gifts. AT ALL. Like others have said, that is my job and the commission is the gift.
That being said, I have always appreciated when someone got me something like a bottle of wine, or even a thank-you card. Honestly - a thank you card goes a long way.
lol....she's getting a nice commission check for doing her job....I wouldn't give her anything more. I worked for Coldwell Banker for 5 years and handled their commission checks. Agents do pretty well with every sale.
I guess I'm a little nicer than I thought. I've never had a realtor work this hard for me. She's definitely getting a hearty thank you card and a letter to her broker. I'm honestly not sure if she drinks (the area is SUPER conservative) but I might do a token gift card to Amazon or something.
