For two weeks. With her handler. I am all broken up about it but I don't see any way to avoid it. We agreed before we got her we would have her shown. Her breeder wants her to be shown at two weeks of shows in Michigan and Chicago. I can't get the time off work to go, nor would I want to spend it sitting around dog shows if I could. She is still such a baby. But I would never burn bridges with this breeder because I want all of my future dogs to come from her. And I did promise we would have her shown, and I don't want to go back on that. But TWO WEEKS you guys.
I don't know. This is the only national show she will go to unless she is invited to Westminster or Eukeunuba, both of which DH and I would want to attend. So probably, at least, until next year.
Aww, I know you'll miss your Nika. She will do great though, and you will be fine too. While she is kicking butt at the shows, she'll know her mom is waiting at home cheering her on ;-)
On one hand I think this is pretty exciting! but I get how long that is to be away from your baby. If I lived close to the show, I would definitely go.
Time to start taking handling classes Is this her finishing show hopefully? Are puppies in your future once she is finished + of correct age? Will you let us all fly out to bask in the puppy breath? Can I hug your husky?
I have a half husky. They really are like having a three year old child forever. I feel your anxiety for you.

No, not her finishing show. She is only 7 months and has been shown twice. She has three points. No majors (though her handler thinks she will win at least one major on the tour).
Yes, we will breed her once. The "pick" will be shown and later bred, the other puppies we will give to our neighbors or family members. But if anyone I trust wants a puppy they can preempt neighbors. And yes. Come bask in puppy breath.
Would you mind PMing me your breeder, or would that be more than you're comfortable with? I'm still amassing my pure-bred husky knowledge base and I'm still trying to feel out what quality husky breeders look like.
