I need to get a new one. What do you have that you like?
We were so zealous in paying off balances and closing cards we no longer wanted and then my Target card closed due to inactivity (I've never heard of a card company doing such a thing!) and I find myself with zero cards.
I'd like to have on in case of emergency.. or such as this week when my bank card stopped swiping and I have to wait for a new one to arrive. It would be nice to have a way of freaking paying for everything.

We do belong to a credit union. I hadn't thought of them for such a thing. I should look into that to see how they compare to the various Capital One type cards available.

I have Capital One and have since I was 19. They've never screwed me over. I pay on time, they leave me alone, don't raise my rate, and recently, gave me $1,000 extra on my credit limit for the hell of it.

I have a Discover with rewards for spending money on gas and at restaurants. They do have other options though. For what little I've had to contact customer service, they are friendly and VERY helpful.
H just got a Capital One, but hasn't gotten it in the mail yet.
I have capital one and it's incredibly handy. The interest rate is high (cause we don't have the best credit, yet) but we pay it off before it's due, so we have yet to be charged any interest. They're helpful when needed and paying online is SUPER easy

We have Hilton Honors Amex and we get hotel points as rewards. We both have the card linked so we stock pile points. The only downside is that some places don't take Amex, but we have been VERY happy with the card.
I have Capital One Venture. So far I like it. We haven't redeemed any points yet so I can't speak for that but there is no annual fee, 0% interest for the first year.
My credit union has a great cash rewards program. I highly recommend a cash rewards card because you get the rewards even if you pay off the balance every month. I use mine like a debit card and it gets paid automatically out of my bank account every month.
H and I have a variety of credit cards. We always pay the full balance, so I don't have much info on interest rates, mostly just opinions on rewards.
Chase Freedom has a pretty good rewards program - 3% on certain categories that rotate throughout the year, but include things like gas, groceries, restaurants, department stores - 1% on everything else. Haven't had any problems with it, and they've been very generous with our credit lines. Update: Forgot to mention that they have made major negative changes to the rewards program (used to be 5% back on a few categories), which is bad policy in my opinion.
Amazon card, great if you shop Amazon a lot bc you get a high percentage (3 or 5% on Amazon purchases) and 1% on everything else, and you can get pretty much anything on Amazon nowadays.
REI card (5% back on REI purchases plus 1%ish on everything else). They charge a $25 late payment fee, ouch.
We're looking into Capitol One Venture as my husband lives in China and I'll be moving there this fall and we plan on traveling a lot while we're there.
Good luck, hope you find one that meets your needs.
