I only change at night until they stop pooping. DD quit around 4 weeks, so she's in one diaper all night. And it's cloth. I just use something with a stay-dry layer.
Anyone that feels the need to change every wake up for a baby that doesn't care is making work.

Thank you! I keep telling DH that we don't need to change DD unless it's very obvious that she's pooped, but he insists that we need to change her, even if she's a little wet. She clearly isn't bothered by a wet diaper, as she falls asleep while nursing, and hasn't had any problems with diaper rash so far.

DS2 wakes up 1x/night, and unless it's almost morning, we change him. He goes back to sleep easily (knock on wood) after being fed and changed, so I do it b/c if he was fussy after eating, I'd wonder the whole time if I should have changed his diaper. If he had trouble going back to sleep, I wouldn't change him.
(Confession: We also recently started changing DS1 (3 years old) in the middle of the night. He still pees A LOT at night, and we haven't found any diaper or diaper pad that can hold his pee. Since we're up anyway, this prevents leaks and having to do a load of laundry every morning.)
If YDS only wakes once to eat, I don't change him because his diaper won't leak at that amount, if he wakes up twice, I change him before the second feeding because otherwise he will be soaked. Obviously, I will change for poop bu he never does that overnight.
He rarely wakes up any more in the MOTN. When he does, he doesn't poop, and I only change in the MOTN with poop.
There was one exception. We were on vacation last week and he had a tummy bug. He pooped 3 times in one hour in the MOTN. One of the times was on the floor before I had a chance to get another diaper. Because you know, he pooped in the new one. It was awful, lol.
It used to be never change unless a poop, and she rarely poops at night. Lately though she sleeps longer if we change her when she wakes up (2x/night).
Poop only! I changed her diaper every time for the first month or two and all it did was confirm she would 100% be wide effing awake if she wasn't already.

We only change her if we are already up feeding her. She usually wakes up once a night. She will sleep longer this way. I would never wake her up to change her.

I voted SS, but I can't remember the last time I changed a diaper in the MOTN. I would change for either poop or a very saturated diaper. DD doesn't really pee or poop MOTN. We use disposables. If I used cloth at night, I would change even wet diapers.
We change her if she wakes up to eat and is wet. She hates a wet diaper and it will just keep her up. She rarely pees at night though so it isn't usually an issue. I'm hoping it will make potty training go easier down the road.

Only poop ones. She stopped doing that around 4-5 mos. But then started doing it again once in awhile at around 2 yrs. It was weird! I think she stopped doing that now.
My kid FILLS his diapers (pee) every night. EVERY night. If I don't change him during the MOTN feeding, he will overflow! And yes, he's always been like this.
I cannot recall the last time there was a MOTN poopy diaper. It just never happens. Now 1st thing? Sure. The kid loves a fresh diaper.
Only poop and she hasn't done that since she was very tiny. I use a BG 4.0 with a regular insert at night since she's still using the newborn ones during the day.
