I missed my BIL's wedding last weekend. Of course I went to the reception and ate the food (two full dinners, in fact), but I didn't make the wedding.
To be fair, I tried to make the wedding, and I was told to please be on time and show up for 5 (by Mr. Kuus, who was a groomsman, and he got that time from the bride since we'd lost the invitation in the renovation shuffle), and I was on time for 5. Turns out the wedding was actually at 4:30, so I got to see everyone exiting the church, looking at me, and snickering (except for the bride and groom, who gave me the stink eye). I was apparently the only one in the family who didn't make it there on time, which was to be expected, I guess, since those chucklefucks had every single last person in the immediate family except for me IN the wedding, and arriving together by rented trolley. And because I'm the bigger person in some small way, not only did I not mention this wedding party fuckery before the wedding, I also didn't mention it to any of the hundred or so people who came up and asked me why I was late.
I am still annoyed by every bit of this. I absolutely hate being conspicuous. But at least I made sure to take home a whole tray of cookies from the reception as restitution.

You are the bigger person. Seriously. What a bunch of bullshit. How do you get the stink eye when the bride told your H 5? How did no one, not even your H, realize it was the wrong time?

My H realized that it was the wrong time about the time they started shuffling people out of his parents' house to go to the wedding. It was too late to call me, since I had already left to go there anyway (they were fairly close to the venue), so he just told them I was feeling sick and told me to keep going back and getting extra food for my trouble.
So did he give you the wrong time or did they give him the wrong time?
Either way, glad you were able to get food restitution. And ew to them giving you stink eye when they excluded you and were told you weren't feeling well.
If he got the time FROM THE BRIDE, then I would absolutely refuse to feel bad in any way, shape or form. I wouldn't even feel conspicuous. Every person who asked? "Oh, Mary told Mr.Kuus 5. Don't know why, but that's why I was late."
