I have a chin-length angled bob right now that I am probably going to try and grow out (again). However, I really want my hair to have some style. The problem is that my hair is fine and straight, although I do have a fair amount. It's really healthy and I get regular trims. I end up putting it into a pony tail most of the time because I don't know how to style it longer. I have been watching Youtube videos about how to style it and I feel better that I can experiment with curling and a flat iron to give it some body. So...how long is your hair? Any tips for growing it out or what the final length should be for versatility but ease?
I have fine hair that is probably six inches below my shoulders. I do have a lot of it, and it has some natural wave, but it is pretty fine. I try to keep my layers long--my shortest is chin length. I've had shorter hair most of my life, and now that it's longer I'm definitely finding that I have to dry it if I don't want it to look too limp.
I'd recommend a thickening spray, if you haven't tried one already. I like Rusk.
My hair is long, fine, and straight... it's down to my bra strap. I hate layers around my face and make sure to only do a few long layers in the front and back. I only wash my hair twice a week and the rest of the week I just use a flat iron on it to quickly get it straight and then a curling iron to give a little body. I actually find longer hair so much better for me because the extra length helps weigh it down more. It lays so much nicer when it's long.
I always have some long layers, that helps. I also pin curl or use foam rollers (I shower at night) a lot. Even if I am brushing out the curl it helps give volume.
