H used to cook a lot until his schedule changed. He's been working super late since then so I do most of the cooking now. I'm hoping once his new job starts, he will cook more since he will be working from home! I hate not eating until 7:30 or 8:00 by the time I get ds fed and food cooked.
He is more of an experimenter than I am, but will still use recipes if he's cooking something fairly new and just alter it to our tastes.
I use recipes for the most part and alter to our tastes and pickiness.
DH does not cook. He's also an engineer and he really hates the idea of throwing things together. Sometimes when I make a new meal he'll even ask me if I used a recipe, he gets kind of shocked when things turn out well that I just made without a recipe. I'd say I am a pretty good cook when I try. It's hard because DH really isn't a picky eater, so even if he doesn't love something he'll still eat it. I do a combo of recipes and just throwing things together. A lot of the things I throw together are inspired by other recipes I've seen though. And as I cook more I notice the things I throw together turn out better and better.
H is a great cook. However, it drives me nuts when he does - he's the type to use 99% of all utensils and dishes in the kitchen to make one meal.
I've gotten better. I follow recipes usually to the letter, I just don't have the ability to throw stuff together on the fly. Thanks to Pinterest, I've been making all sorts of recipes that have been really good.
