We decided to be responsible homeowners and do tedious maintenance on our house - cleaning the tub jets and sealing the kitchen granite. Cleaning the jets involves filling and draining the tub a bunch of times and running the jets to clean/rinse. There's a decent amount of down time between, so we started in on the counters while it was filling. We then completely forgot about the tub, which was filling with hot water at full blast. For about an hour.
Good news is that H and I learned that the overflow drain on the master tub does, in fact, work pretty well, and we only mildly flooded a part of the storage room below. That section of the basement floor also got an unexpected bleach bath from the overflow. I also learned that H is actually a pretty fast runner, and N learned the word SHIT!

I had to be calm about it because H was FAH-REAKING out. And he is not a freak-out type of guy. Totally the opposite. He's usually the one who's reminding me to walk away when I'm about to lose my shit about whatever, thinks things through, remains calm no matter what, etc. So I kept the girls away. "Daddy's fine! Nothing to see here! Hey, can you go make me some tea in your kitchen WAAAAAAYY over there?" And he is running around like "where's the mop! Rags! ZOMG! Buckets! WHERE DO YOU KEEP ALL THIS STUFF???!"
H and I don't really curse in front of the kids, and don't really curse much in general but we are both impressed that shit was the only word learned in this situation.

Aaaand, because he is who he is, h just rigged this little contraption to dry out under he tub. Yes, that is a box fan horizontally suspended from the rafters with zip ties. He was actually giggling with pride when he called me down to see this.
You don't fail, we're just super prudes about swearing around our kids.
Shit was the only bad word I learned at home. My parents don't cuss except Dad says shit when things are super bad. He said it a lot while teaching me to drive. FWIW none of my 4 sisters or I ever repeated it after Dad. We knew/were taught it wasn't a nice word.
So go you and your H DotAndBuzz. Keep up the good work. :Y:
