It doesn't stop. The people above us have a 6 year old boy. I swear all he does is jump. It is sooooo loud. Sometimes it rattles the pictures on the wall. I am so annoyed. No one lives below us yet, but we are already training Tenley to not jump or stomp. Why do these people not do the same with their kid?!? They have to know, right?

Welcome to living in multi-family housing? I dont know, that's what kids DO. Sure, try to keep it down after certain hours or before certain hours, but that's his home and he should be able to act like a kid in his own home. You'd also be surprised how loud regular walking sounds from below.

I know it's definitely going to take getting used to. It's 8:40 and he is just all over the place. I can hear him running from one end of their apartment to another. It's also annoying because DD goes to bed by 7:30 or 8:00 and he is so loud still. They just moved in last week so it's new. They also let their puppy poop on the stairs and didn't pick it up! DH picked it up and was pissed.
Um, they sound kind of awful honestly. The kid doesn't need to be running around at almost 9pm. I would probably go up and ask them tomorrow if they can try to have him keep it down in the evening since your kid is sleeping. I figure the worst that happens is they do nothing. Not like it can be much worse.
Dog poo on the stairs what?!?! No. These new neighbors suck. Wtf?!
Agreed. DH saw it happen when he was outside walking our dog. Their dog was on a leash and they stood there while it pooped and then kept walking up the stairs to their apartment.
I definitely understand your frustration. And letting your dog poop on the stairs and not cleaning it up? That's disgusting. I wouldn't blame you for saying something about that and if it happens again saying something to your landlord or housing management.

Yeah, that'll go over well with the type of person who lets their dog shit on the stairs and leaves it OP: Let it go. Their kid is in his own home and unless they're blaring music or screaming, etc, you really can't (and shouldn't) ask them to side-line their kid. This is one of those things that you really just have to get used to. Your kids will learn to sleep through it, I promise. Mine slept through full blown construction (power tools, hammering, sawing, etc) directly above their bedrooms, and they're not particularly light heavy sleepers. When you live in a building with other families, then you dont have a lot of room to complain about the little things like this.

It's good to hear that they will get used to it. I know I should be more understanding given the fact that eventually someone will live below us lol.

When we have talked to them they are really nice, bit the poop thing and the jumping has me annoyed. It wouldn't be so bad if it was every once in awhile, but this kid is constant lol. I'm sure we won't end up saying anything to them and I will have to get over it, but it is SO LOUD!
I would just get a broom and knock on the ceiling periodically.
No seriously. That does suck. In sure you'll get used to it over time. I hope it's not keeping T awake.
Mr. Heckles style.
They have only lived here a week and DD has been with my mom since Friday. She did wake up one night around 9 and ask me what was the banging. Other than that she has been fine.

That's a good sign! Besides that how are you liking your new place?

I'm loving it! It's been a really positive change for us!
