I had to read the story multiple times in order just to be able to sort out the details. I think because there were more players in the picture than I imagined. I really want to know what Child Protective Services says they found, that they were able to close the case(s).
The worst nightmares that I get (by far and that I wake up in a panic from) are the ones where I suddenly realize that I neglected my baby or pet for several hours or days and forgot somehow to feed or take care of them. In reality I know that I wouldn't do that, but that's what I get after I read these stories where the neglect is so bad it led to death.

One of the things not mentioned in these links is that the dad had an affair with the social worker assigned to the case after the daughter died, like right after he was brought back from deployment. Who knows what was going on in the years preceding that.
This story was already in "you can't make this shit up" territory. Now it's firmly entrenched there.
This is really gross and horrible and...I'm just sad and disgusted. I can't believe that guy went in to the house and didn't say something. Plus who thinks its normal to babysit kids you can 't even see???

Holy hell. This is wrong on so many levels.
Two weeks since a diaper change? How? How is there any diaper even left?
How can a "house guest" not raise an alert when the house smelled as badly as it did? How can you hook up with someone when her three kids have got to be crying or closed in their room?
How can a social worker see clear to have any kind of sexual relationship with a man whose ***young*** family has been repeatedly under the microscope of CPS and other agencies? That relationship had to have been counter to everything she learned in school and believed in to become a social worker. . .
I pray for the two sisters. May their lives be more stable than their mother's.

I can't even wrap my head around how people can do things like this to their kids. My son had an upset stomach 5 min from the house once. By the time I got him into the house to change him, he was already red and blistering. I can't even imagine what two weeks in the same mess can do to a child's skin. Good, God, the torture these babies must have gone through.
There is a lot more to this story than has come out so far. I know a girl who started dating the father once he came back, and in my opinion he shouldn't have those kids back. The Airmen who went to the house to help clean the place out after she was arrested said the stench would burn their eyes to the point they went and put on their gas masks, and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in well over the amount of time the father had been deployed.

They are back with their dad, who was discharged, and they're living near his family now. It sounds like his parents/their grandparents have their heads on pretty straight, but he isn't parent of the year either. Family Advocacy was involved with them before the deployment because the parents wouldn't go to the pharmacy to pick up meds for one of the girl's liver condition... free meds, just too lazy to drive over there. The pharmacy isn't terribly far from base housing either. It's probably a 5 minute drive depending on where in housing you live and how many kids are crossing the street as you drive.
This is where I am. How can someone live in a house that others need gas masks to be in?
We were talking about it right after the court marshall ended, and DH said his best guess is they just got used to it over time. I can MAYBE see that with her since she lived in it from when it started, but shouldn't the boyfriend have had an adjustment period where he was gagging? And why would you want to live in that kind of filth? If the tub in her room was as dirt covered and gross as I've heard it was, I'd be questioning when her last shower was.
Did y'all know the boyfriend also had a wife and kid(s)? They live in another country, I want to say PR, and he was "saving up his money to bring them here. That's why he lived with her." <-- his original excuse
What the fuck was that social worker thinking?!? I cannot imagine getting involved with a parent of the kids I see. There is so much fucked up about this. Yet I don't find it surprising really. I've seen/heard so many crazy awful things at work in the last few weeks alone. People fucking suck.
