We moved three years ago, and I put off finding a new lady doc. I finally decided to suck it up and make the 1 hr+ drive to see her to make sure everything is healthy.
So while I was there, I asked if she had my kiddo's apgar scores in my file and mentioned that we finally had a neuro appointment for him and I wanted to have that info in case it came up. She asked why we were seeing a neuro and I told her he has some developmental delays and I finally was able to get the pedi to refer us. She kept asking me questions about him and his doctors and more or less just listened to me spill my guts about how difficult the last 4 years have been trying to deal with all his therapists and doctors and just trying to fight for a referral to see a stupid neurologist.
And because that wasn't enough, she said if I keep having difficulties here and was willing to make the drive, she would put me in touch with a great pediatrician she knew who would refer us to a great pediatric neurologist at the children's hospital there. And to top it off, she gave me a hug. Not a fake hug, the real deal. I almost cried. My gyno, who I hadn't seen in three years, cares more about figuring out what is wrong with my kid than his pedi does.

People underestimate how important a good ob is. Really I think it is any doc just that as woman of child bearing age we see the ob more than anyone.
I drive 45 mins to go to my ob. Everyone thinks I am nuts to not have one closer especially because I just had a baby and was there constantly. He is amazing though and I would drive even further to see him.
