For bloat.
She started acting strange earlier this evening, panting, arching her back, wobbling on her back legs and whining. MH felt her stomach (hard as a rock) and we immediately knew this was bad news so we called an emergency vet who said to bring her in right away. She was rushed back and then we heard a call to the vet to get "to the ICU, stat." We knew it was her. Her stomach was so enlarged at that point, it was causing too much pressure on her lungs and she had to be put under.
She's now in surgery. We are waiting to see if we are approved for Care Credit and then I guess we go home and wait for a call. I guess I'm just venting and this is probably a P&R. I'm just so worried about her.

Bloat is terrifying and really hard to predict and catch. It sounds like you guys did exactly what you needed to and caught it early, sending lots of t&p

Thanks for the good thoughts, guys. We transferred her from the emergency vet to her regular vet this morning. She was doped up on some strong pain meds but she's doing well and should come home tonight after some monitoring there today.
All things considered, this is pretty much the best outcome possible.

We actually just got back from her first walk since coming home. I figured she would be pretty sore and slow but we actually had to slow her down for her own good. I think we were really, really lucky (although I realize we aren't totally out of the woods yet).

Lots of T&P glad she made it home. I'm terriffied of this happening to mine, if the poor girl burps she gets a gas x (we've cleared with the vet, and it does cut down on the gas from the other end too if she starts getting too gassy)
