My current condo I rent was taken over by the management company of neighboring apartments. The women in the leasing office are incompetent, and the new lease is ridiculous (e.g. I have a pet and they have a section stating I cannot have a pet and they will not denote my pet deposit is refundable).
BF and I toured a new community a few miles away - the rent is $375 more with about the same square footage.
Should we move? I have been between the two choices for weeks. It's like I am incapable of planning my future anymore.
From what I think I understand what you are saying, if you stay, you have to get rid of your pet. If you move, you take your pet with you. If this is correct, I would say the latter is a no brainer since I can't imagine losing a pet over something you can control.
Was your lease up and they are asking you to sign a new lease? If not, your current lease should supersede the new one until it is up.
Also there is no way I would give up my pet. So I would definitely move. Is there a reason there is only one other option? I'd be checking out places like crazy this week.

My current lease is up and I must sign a new one with this new mgmt company...i get to keep my pet, they are just incompetent and didn't remove the no pet section...the women in the office dislike me, I have been labeled as the difficult one because they wanted me to sign the new lease with my married name and I refused.
We both really loved the new apartments we toured. I'm being picky and would like a nice place at the same price, which is not possible for the area I am in...

Are there no other communities you can tour? Are you willing to be slightly further away from work/home? I would just scratch through the parts of the lease I disagree with, initial it and see what they say. I dont know how legally viable that would be, but it couldnt hurt, if you chose to stay.
