there is a house being built next door to us. its super huge and incredible and the owners have every single electric anything available to control via their ipads/iphones. only maybe that isn't working yet.
why? why would i say that?
because their (currently unmonitored) alarm has been going off for the last three hours. and i'd like to think that if they had the ability to currently control it via their ipad/iphone/iasshole that it would be shut off already.
and i don't have their contact information to call them.
i emailed the neighborhood association president two hours ago to see if he could help me, but he must be off having a life or something because i haven't heard from him.
did i mention that their house also happens to be on the side of my house where my bedroom is? so that i'll get to try and not hear this all night while i attempt to sleep?
Is there possibly any sign or sticker from the company that wired the alarm? I know you said it is unmonitored, but maybe someone would have their contact info.
Would it help to play dumb and call the police? "OH, their alarm is going off! What if there's a bad guy on the loose??" Or maybe they're violating a noise ordinance?

I would just call the non-emergency police number. I would want to call 911and play dumb, "there might be robbers getting the copper wire" but I would feel too guilty.
People break into construction sites all the time to steal stuff. I'd call the police to help the owners out. Uh huh. It's just for the owner's own good.

Yeah, I agree with calling the cops. We have a house with an unmonitored system, and while our neighbors have our contact info, if they couldn't reach us for some reason, I would hope the cops would be the next step.

there isn't any real reason to call the police?
i mean...nobody entered the house.
actually, nobody entered that i know of. so i guess somebody could have, but its really not likely.
also, i hate calling the police. because i feel like such a bother. and the non-emergency people act like they just don't give a fuck and have to go file their nails or some shit.

i called the non-emergency line. she said she's alert the patrol in our area to come and check it out, but that there likely isn't anything they can do about it since its unmonitored and they'd have no way to turn it off.
Just because you didn't see someone enter the house doesn't mean that they didn't. I would have called the police as soon as I heard the alarm 3 hours ago.

well, clearly you beat me at life in the neighborhood watch department.

Not really. I leave my front door unlocked sometimes.

That part is annoying. But an alarm all night long will be more annoying. Blargh.
