Have you ever been to the country your ancestors are from? And do you still have family there?
I personally haven't but I would love too. My mom is 100% Slovak and her parents immagrated to the USA. I know they left family behind and I still have distant relatives over there. I would love to go some day.
I have so different heritages on my father's side, I wouldn't even know where to start. It would take a lifetime to visit them all.
I've been to Mexico, but I couldn't even tell you what part of Mexico I'm from. My grandmother's parents moved over before she was born and I never thought to ask her what area they were from before the dementia set in.
Yep! I have seen graves of my ancestors in Scotland. My uncle has traced our lineage back for hundreds of years (he thinks it's fun-- sounds horribly boring to me, though!)

Yes and it was so much fun! The H has a friend living in Croatia and we mostly spent our time in the capital and on the coast/island hopping, but we drove near the town where my great grandmother was born. Apparently there's not much there now as it was one of the abandoned towns after their war so I didn't really spend any time there. I never got any information in time about any distant relatives that I could contact so that didn't happen.
But all of that side of the family went crazy for all the Croatia paraphernalia and photos that I brought back, they all want to go sometime. It was such a neat experience just to see the culture first hand.

I've not been to Italy, but some cousins were visiting just a couple of weeks ago. It was fun to see them.
My granfather went to visit some of his cousins a few years ago, but I wouldn't know how to get in touch with them. Maybe my grandmother's sister (who is still alive) or my great-grandmother's brother (95!) would know.
This reminded me that I want to make a copy of the photo of my great-grandparents on the boat from Scotland. My great-grandfather is in a kilt and everything!
I haven't, but I really want to go to the two main ones. Ireland because I think it would be very pretty. Germany, because I think it would be interesting. I know that a portion of my family didn't make it out during the Holocaust, and I know that other family members have gone back and made memorials to them in their hometowns.

I'm a mix of English, German, and French.
I went to Germany this past spring.
My grandfather was also a POW of WWII at a concentration camp in Germany and although the actual camp is no longer there, it was interesting to be in the area and know some of what he'd been through.
