Did it work? I'm at my wit's end with our microfiber storage ottoman. It looks like hell all the time. I've tried steam cleaning it w/the brush attachment on our carpet steamer, using the Little Green. I've tried spot cleaning it w/water, rubbing alcohol (I tried the spray bottle method that went around on Pinterest a while ago, huge FAIL), spot cleaning w/oxyclean.... Nothing is working, everything leaves water marks.
I'm trying one last ditch effort and just read about using baby wipes on the water spots, then rubbing w/a dry towel and holding a hair dryer over it to speed dry it. Anyone try this? Does it work? If not i'm afraid my fav ottoman is going out w/the trash...

We use baby wipes on our sueded microfiber couch, but we've never had problems with water marks on the couch. We have had water marks on some throw pillows (they're not microfiber). I've found the only way to get rid of them is to clean the whole pillow with a barely damp cloth rather than just spot clean. That way you don't have the edges of the water spot. I also try to kind of feather out the edges as I'm wiping it.

What went wrong with the rubbing alcohol? I noticed that I had some water spots on it after I did it, but I just had to do a bigger patch than I had done. It's not very good for patch cleanining.
Our ottoman is a light tan color microfiber. It started with a few water/juice/milk droplets from DD's drink cup and the more I try to clean it off, the worse the water spots get and the worse it looks.
I have tried spot cleaning, I have tried cleaning the entire top of the ottoman, I have tried not using as wet of a product/cloth, I have tried to sort of fade out the edges of the damp spot as I clean so it doesn't leave an obvious ring. I was under the impression that the rubbing alcohol was supposed to clean and then evaporate super fast so it didn't leave a water mark but even that left a mark.
Using the brush attachment on the steamer worked the best but now the top of the ottoman seems darker than the rest of it...
I use Borax. You can get it at Target in the laundry additive section. The box will tell you how to mix for upholstery. I make a bucket of it and use a white rag to scrub it on. The bad spots I use a vegetable brush. Then I use a water wet rag to "rinse". I let it dry overnight and vacuum. They come out amazing. I've tried the alcohol on ink and it does work pretty good. My couches get so bad that I can't do the alcohol or else I would be high as a kite. I think the Borax works better.
When I am scrubbing with the Borax, I can still see a lot of the water spots, but I guess it works as it dries because I wake up to no more water stains.
This might be a dumb question but....do you use distilled water when cleaning? I was told (can't remember who told me) that you're supposed to use distilled water on microfiber because it doesn't leave water spots. I don't own anything microfiber so I can't speak from experience. :-(
I don't but I do clean the entire surface when I clean it. It makes sense though, just try boiling some water and see if it creates a water mark or not.
