It's that time of year, what are the movies that have scared you the most?
The movie that scared me the most is The Ring. I remember not sleeping and throwing sheets over the TV in my room. And I may or may not have skipped school the next day.

Definitely The Ring.
H (then BF) and I saw it together, and when the movie got out at like midnight, decided to go back to his house - with it's super uncomfortable bed and his five other roommates - because he had cable and we could just stay up all night and not even try to sleep. We eventually crashed at like 5 am, and I slept like a baby because I was squished between him and the wall on his tiny twin bed (so, safe in case the drowned girl crawled in through either the window or the door). H informed me in the morning that he just lay there and stared at the wall for five hours. Thanks dude!

I think things like When a Stranger Calls or The Strangers scare me most. Supernatural stuff does not creep me out because I don't really believe in it. I think a psychotic serial killer is way more scary because that can actually happen, in my mind. And someone breaking into my house when home alone (a la WASC) is my ultimate nightmare.
Not the movies as a general whole, but specifically the endings of both Paranormal Activity 1 and Paranormal Activity 2. The final scenes in Paranormal Activity 2 made my H jump in the theater and I have NEVER EVER seen him scared by a movie.
The Strangers. That's the one I think about sometimes and get super freaked out.
I used to love watching scary movies but I stopped in the last year or two, the bad images/scenes will go on repeat in my head for days and my anxiety gets really bad because of it.
The movie that truly scared me was What Lies Beneath. It was not a horror movie, but it made me jump. I don't like horror movies, so take that for what it's worth lol Most seem to be a gorefest, and I am so not into that.

"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
I watch a lot of scary movies, so not much really scares me.
The Strangers was pretty creepy (home invasion) The Fourth Kind was creepy (alien abduction) And Last House On the Left has a brutal rape scene (home invasion)

Oh good one! That one definitely scared me too. I loved that movie.

Yep, The Strangers or movies that could *actually* happen are the scariest to me. I grew up in a city that was basically a little town dropped into a rainforest. Some friends just had a mile of trees surrounding their place as their "yard". It scared me that something could be lurking out there and if our phones were down, we'd be goners! Those isolated, real people, no ghosts/magic/supernatural ones... they're realistic enough to make me nervous.

The Ring was definitely scary. But I still think the scariest movie I've ever seen was "Magic" with Anthony Hopkins. It is old (~1980) but I remember it being really good.
I love horror movies a lot, but it's rare that I'm actually scared.
That said, favorites include the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, House of 1000 Corpses, Candyman and Evil Dead 2. TCM and Candyman are actually scary, the others are just messy and delightful.

I know I'm digressing from my own topic, but I STILL get scared when I hear the theme song or the laugh from tales of the crypt. My mom and dad used to watch this on HBO when I was little and I would scream and hide. It was a running joke in my household, and my mom still calls the crypt keeper my "boyfriend":
Paranormal Activity kept me up for 2 nights even though I know its fake. The Ring, The Grudge and Rec. Scarrrry
We watched Paranormal Activity and for months if my husband got up from bed and stood there thinking about why he was up I would yell at him to move already. That movie scarred me for a while.
