So she knows my SIL is pg. But she also knows SIL is sort of close to my age, and she asked me: Mommy, why did Aunt C have her baby so late?
me: what do you mean?
N: well, she isn't young, and she's having a baby late.
me: well, she's actually younger than me, but everyone has babies at different times, because that's how life works out. Some people have them younger, some people wait a while, and have them later.
N: So how old do you have to be to have a baby?
me (seeing giant red flashing lights): How old do you think you should be? Remember we talked about how you should go to school and make sure you have a good job first....
N: I don't know. Probably about 17.
Me: well, um. that can happen, but I think it might work better for you if you wait a little longer than that. Like, at least 22 or 23. Hey look, I got halloween candy! Want some as a super special early Halloween treat?
I know the baby questions are coming. I just know it. And we want to be honest about it (already use correct anatomy terms). But dammit, I don't want to talk about this stuff with her!!!! I know I have to, but I don't want to!

My nephew is almost 4 and he knew there was a baby in my belly. He then realized that there would be a baby out of my belly. He wanted to know how the baby would get out of my belly. Thank god he accepted my answer of the doctor gets it out of my belly. I think he questioned my sister further but I am not sure what she told him.

My son asked the same thing and then answered his own question by saying, it comes out of our belly button.
31. Definitely not old, or even close to edge of childbearing years. But to N, who is 5, she's "old," and a grown-up, and my peer. So N sees me, w/ 2 kids, and SIL who is simiar in age, but no kids yet. Hence (I think), her comparison.
I remember "fighting" with my older cousin, back when you're 3-4 and think being older is the most bestest specialist thing in the whole wide world, about whose mom was older, mine or his.
(My mom was)
We'd go in circles saying "my mom is 24" The the other would respond "oh yeah, we'll my mom ism25" "We'll, mine is 26"
And on and on.
I still remember the moment of pure illumination when I truly realized that my mom was always going to be older, and therefore I won, always.
