I ordered the Hunger Games trilogy on my e-reader back in April. It failed to download twice, so I had to refresh it. The download worked the third time.
I check my bank account a few days later and see that the company charged me three times, presumably because I had to hit refresh twice.
Now, try to follow me here. I call customer service and tell them what happened. They say, no prob, but we'll need your bank statement to confirm you got charged three times. I send them my bank statement. They say, thank you, but we'll need your bank statement to confirm you got charged three times. *facepalm* I send my bank statement again. Two weeks go by with no word. I email and ask what's up. They say they're working on it, but they'll need my bank statement to confirm that I was charged three times. This time I just forwarded the last email again.
Finally, they say they're refunding me and it'll be a couple days. No biggie to me. When the refund goes through it's only for one purchase. At this point I throw up my hands and think, whatever, so I paid for the trilogy twice. Worse things have happened.
That was in April.
Last week I checked my bank account and I had another refund from the company (mind you it's now JUNE), and this time they've refunded me two purchases. If you're doing the math, that means they've charged me three times and refunded me three times. I now have the books for free.
Being, well, me, I call them Sunday and tell them that they accidentally refunded me too much. The lady on the phone was completely baffled that anyone would call up trying to give them money, but I just told her I believe in Karma.
Well, Karma works! I got an email today saying they're looking into it, thanking me for my honesty, and telling me to keep the money.
That is a score! Though I think I would rather pay for books then go through that whole hassle. Since you went through the hassle anyway, yay for free books!
