I received two phone calls from my doctor's office this morning. The first time they didn't leave a message and the second time they told me that I needed to call them back today.
The last time I was there I had my annual exam and pap done. I'm supposed to go back on Tuesday to go over the results. I just called them back and I know they can't give results over the phone, but this wasn't a typical appointment reminder call. They emphasized how important it was that I keep the appointment to go over the results.
I've seen this doctor for years and reminder calls are left on voicemail the day before. This was a repeated attempt to get ahold of me and now I'm scared.
Ugh I'm sorry, my old gyn did this to me after my pap came back HPV+ for the second time. I was convinced I had cancer, but of course I didn't - they just couldn't give me my results over the phone. Don't panic; like the others have said, it's probably just abnormal, which can be really common.
I once had an abnormal pap that was so not-abnormal that they were like, yeah...just come back again in a year. like you always do. and then it was fine.

When I had my abnormal pap my gyn absolutely told me on the phone as soon as he got the results. He actually was scheduling the surgery to remove the pre cancerous cells while we were on the phone. I was in the OR in two weeks When I asked if we could wait on the surgery since I had read most cases of HPV the body resolves itself, he absolutely said no and that was that.
I'm am obviously not saying you have my same situation, just that in my case, the news was worse than oh you have an abnormal pap, we need to retest, so that is what made the doctor give the info over the phone. The urgent of it. Personally, it's a relief when they don't say anything over the phone and just have me come in for the follow up appointment
Good luck It's not easy to just not worry. It's natural to worry. Odds are you are fine but worry is natural.
