We have two main teachers that I will definitely get a gc and maybe something else small for them. Not sure on the gc amount but maybe $50. This is more than I would normally spend on other people but I really love and appreciate what they do for dd. I know there are a couple other helpers that I will need to find out for sure who they are and I will probably give them a small gc too. I don't plan on getting anything for the director or front desk.

Last year we did $25 Target gift cards for the main teachers, there were 4 of them. We didn't do anything for the directors.
This year we'll do the GC's for the teachers again, there are 3. I may pick up a gift for the classroom (like a new book) I might also give baked goods to the directors/staff/cook, I'm not sure yet.
I would not do baked goods. You never know who is allergic to what, who has a special diet, etc. And as a teacher, I typically toss baked goods in the trash, though that's because it's often my middle school kids doing the baking and I know their hygiene habits are not up to standard.
I would do a gc for the teachers, in any amount that is comfortable for you. I would also have your child draw the teachers a "thank you" picture or something. I love handmade cards and personal thank you notes.

Good point but I admit I lold bc of your screen name
I didn't say I didn't like treats! The screenname is a nickname from college.
I know this is a TOTALLY different situation, since we send DD to an in-home and we're friendly with our provider... but we're totally giving her and her husband a big bottle of Crown Royal.
We have 6 main teachers and 4-5 floaters to consider. I plan to give $50 to the main teachers (gift card) and maybe $15 to the floaters. I may try to do a pool for the floaters -- I think like it would be better to get one big gift card from the families vs. 40 small ones.

We always did cash vs. gift cards. $25-$50 depending on the teachers. We received handwritten thank you notes, so I know they liked it. I think gift cards to Target are great since everyone (except Jan8) can find something there. We are a non Starbucks drinking family that always ends up with a ton of Starbucks gift cards, so I try to avoid giving gift cards for food since I know that there are people who don't like even the most popular places.
We gave DS's daycare lady $50 cash last Christmas and will do the same this year. To me, cash is more useful than a gift card as she can definitely put it toward their own Christmas needs.
In your situation, I'd probably do thank you cards with $20 for the main teachers, and skip the directors.
I always like hearing that parents remember the floaters/helpers at their DCs. Sure, you know the main teachers and interact with them often, but the other people also do so much to help take care of the children. It's nice for them to be remembered, especially because they are not in one place all the time, forming a bond with parents, etc.
At our school parents are very generous and we usually receive GCs ranging from $10-50 to Target, Barnes & Noble, the mall, Lakeshore, or a restaurant. Some people give gifts to the front desk assistant, but not everyone. Some parents give gifts to the directors, but again, not everyone.
We've done Target Gift Cards/Dunkin Donut Gift Cards - for us though, it was $10 for each assistant and $15 for the head teachers since we had all 3 in last year and had 9 teachers to buy for. We also write nice cards for the teachers thanking them, and maybe include some chocolates/candy. This year may be harder because although we only have 2 in daycare, there have been many "floaters" in the rooms as they have seemed to have a lot of turn over, plus one of the head teachers was out on Maternity Leave. When DD1 left for K this fall, we did send the center an Edible Arrangement for the teachers and staff, they said they loved that.

I do $25 Target gc's to the main teachers (DS2 has at least 2 of those) and $5 Target gc's to the floaters. All in those little gc envelopes and attached to Christmas candy. The floaters last year were shocked (in a good way) to be included at all, and I think it was a fun surprise for them.
I don't do anything for the directors, and probably wouldn't unless they'd been particularly helpful with an issue we'd been having. I see it as the same thing as not tipping a wedding photographer who is the owner of the business.
When my DD went to daycare I would do gift cards for her 2 main teachers. Usually $50 each and either from Target or Visa. I would also give a box of Cheryl Cookies stuff to be shared by the whole center.
I think I'll do $25 to Target for her main teacher and $5-10 for the regular aides in her room. Then one morning I'll stop at Panera and get bagels and cream cheese for the center/other aides that help out grom time to time in her room.
