"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
I totes wished I could watch people polka. Hell I would settle for a polka festival but instead I am greeted with mariachis which oddly kind of fill the desire to polka. If it makes any difference I am half mexican and half polish. I miss polka music and think I will go ask the mister to play a polka record now.
Another German/Polish WI girl signing in! I haven't polka-ed in forever, but my dad and his girlfriend go every weekend without fail - they even plan their travels around if Stephanie or whoever the the big polka band is now is playing.
Also, be jealous. I met Eddie Blazonczyk in person when I was, like, six. It was the only time I ever saw my dad star-struck, lol.
Sorry, got into some shenanigans last night. You meant you know how to polka, not that you know where I've seen it (which would have been cool). I used to get dragged to polka festivals as a kid and it would've been cool to commiserate with someone on that.

Lol - have you been to the mother of all polka festivals, Pulaski Polka Days? Or did you do the church picnic circuit? And you know how there's always the one elderly couple dancing side-by-sidenaround the edge of the floor?
I hated going as a kid, but can laugh as an adult.

No, I don't think so. I love polka. I get up and dance when there is polka. I fell in love with DH dancing the polka. It was our first dance (not at our wedding, but it was IRL).

The one we went to every summer was called "Polkabration". The elderly couple that stands out to me the most showed up every year wearing these elaborately beaded Polish eagle jackets. Like you, I hated it as a kid but looking back it's all pretty funny.
