Did you do Brazilian? I did just the edges last week and I was surprised how well I did. Sorry about your luck.
The edges were actually a lot harder than the middle! The part that is currently bruised is the edge where my leg starts, if that makes sense. Basically, the part you can see when I am wearing a bathing suit.

I used to always wax my own bikini line. It was years ago, and I used a Sally Hansen wax that you heated in the microwave.
Then a couple years ago, I got one of those "professional" wax kits. Oh my gosh. What a disaster. It ended with me lying on the bathroom floor making DH help me while I screamed. Good times.
How did you bruise yourself? What kind of wax did you use?
I used heated wax. I think I pulled too hard on the strip. The first time I pulled, it barely came off. So I put the strip back on and pulled super, super hard.
I tried this once as well. All the wax did not come off on the strip. I had to call a waxing place to ask how to remove the excess. (baby oil) the kit didn't mention that. 😊

I waxed my bikini line for the first time two weeks ago, and I did it at home. Well, actually, I made DH do it. I didn't feel like I had the angle on it. I was impressed at how easy it was and how little it hurt. So I moved on to my legs. It took forever and tons of wax. There must be another method for legs.
Did you pull the skin tight before your ripped off the strip? I've been doing my own bikini waxes for decades (I am old) and, as furry as I am, have never managed to bruise myself.

I think legs work better if you have a wax pot and sticks like professional waxing places have. It's easier to distribute larger amounts of wax to get more hair at once.

I do my own at home but I use Nads which is a green Goo. It comes off with warm water like sugaring does. I has super sensitive skin and I get bruised looking spots but they are from where the hair ripped out and look fine within a few hours.
I always get my waxes done by a professional and still ended up with a bruise a few times. The first time it happened I thought the waxer was going to cry she was so apologetic. She explained why it happens sometimes and not others but it wasn't that big of a deal to me, it faded really quickly and I've gotten a few more bruises since then (from different professionals)

Lurker chiming in. . . I had a professional wax before my wedding (second time waxing). The woman doing it made me bled! The wax tore off a chunk of flesh. . . Later, as we were getting the bleeding to stop, she passed out. Like full on slump on the floor, wet her pants, passing out. It was clearly not her day.
(I asked after my massage if she was okay. They gave me some BS answer, but in retrospect, they couldn't divulge any personal information.)
